Hanns-G HW191D Thread (Now £107.95 @ OcUK)

Wow this monitor looks a real bargain, I'm currently on a 17" tft, I guess a 19" wouldn't have a lot more screen in terms of size, but the widescreen would be nice for movies :)

Might have to finally get a couple on this week only. By the looks of it game stretching isn't really much of an issue anyway, and with any luck nvidia will support software 1.1 pixel mapping on all ws monitors with a driver update.

they will have to at some stage. a lot of people are picking up w.s displays so they have to keep everyone sweet of lose out

check out widescreengamingforum.com, they have some great guides on almost all major titles and of its not listed just post and ask. very helpful.

Get one - beats the proverbial out of my Sun 20" CRT - and that was/is a nice screen. No idea what to do with it though.

Cant fault mine - No dead pixels, superb contrast not just in specifications but in actual use. Widescreen forums have hacks for most games to run widescreen, and with V-Sync on its beautifully smooth with no tearing at all, and you only need pressure your GFX with a *lowly* 2x anti-aliasing to get lines lovely and crisp.

The screen itself is nice and light, tilts fine and has possibly the smallest bezel edge I've ever seen - so no space wasted there.

Oh, and you can pick up a DVI cable for under £5.

well i bought one and unfortunately i got one dead/stuck pixel at blue in colour... its kinda annoying and yet i can;t really be bothered to change it..

maybe i will give it to my sis and keep my old 18"1 tft

Where is it? Have you tried rubbing it lightly or using a program to flash colours on the screen incase you can unstick it?

One stuck pixel is nothing to worry about and its highly unlikely they will take it back/exchange it.

its located at around the 4'o clock mark about halfway between the middle and the lower left corner..

i tried rubbing it lightly as well as the psp flashing program.. but the problem is that the psp program is only 52 secs long and i don;t know how to loop it
:(

I'm sitting looking at mine with no dead pixels but I think my system is currently bottlenecking me, I have a 6800GS OC @ 420Mhz/1.10Ghz and it can't cope with 1440x900 on medium settings in Battlefield 2.

Is it my XP2800+ holding it back and when I change to an Opteron 146 system I'll be able to use the correct res? (does anyone know :) )

Thanks,

Can't guarantee that the CPU upgrade will be a total panacea - but having just squeezed another 220Mhz out of my Opteron 144 I can see an 800 point 3Dmark increase and noticably smoother graphics in most games where anything is limited at that res - then yeah, I reckon your CPU is probably doing some limiting of that GS card. Go for the oppy.... you know you want to :D

Hi Chaps!.

I am also thinking of buying one of these nifty monitors.

I currently use a 19" CRT and I want to get a TFT/LCD.

Will i loose a lot of screen size if i go for this widescreen model!

I have measured the 19" CRT and its 30mm smaller in Height than my work 19" TFT.( actual screen height)

So what im saying am i going to loose any height on my CRT?

Man im confused

The first one has one pixel which goes black instead of blue, otherwise its defect free.

Is there a program to stress test the pixels?

Edit: My 2nd one seems a bit of a lemon. One pixel which is stuck red when its supposed to be either black or white or any other dark colours. Also the buttons are almost impossible to press compared to my other one.

So could i rma it for the buttons, or do i have to pay postage myself and send it back under distance selling act?

Does anybody know if this monitor works well with the xbox 360? I know the closest resolution supported by the 360 is 1280x768, will this monitor scale it well? Also, does anybody know if the 7600GT has DVI-D out so i connect it using the DVI port, or is it just DVI-I? Thanks.
