There isn't an issue regarding games in WS. I have had the Dell 2405 for well over a year now and I have not ever encountered problems. As I said, we have tried Enemy Territory and Tomb Raider and on the Xbox 360 Fight Night, Oblivion and PGR and they all look superb. Really happy with them to be honest!!!

Green101 - read the thread :)

7600GT - http://www.guru3d.com/article/Videocards/326/ - Dual DVI output.

Did you misread? I did type DVI not DVI-D.

Not heard of any monitor signal cable carrying audio also - why on earth would you want this facility/inconvenience on a PC which can handle dedicated audio signals??

OK, im sure I will be able to connect the GPU to the monitor using DVI. Some new LCD's have HDMI which is pretty much the same as DVI-D (ie Digital signal only) but they can carry sound too, i suppose its much more usefull on TV's though. The DVI and VGA ports must have 1/8 audio jacks then.

very interested in this monitor.
how do the color looks compared to the ACER? i saw an ACER in a shopping center and had to tune down the temperature to reduce the blurring...
i suspect that this monitor does not have this kind of problem using DVI

Ok, so I purchased a "DVI to DVI cable - 2m M-M TFT Monitor Lead".

It fits into both the monitor and graphics card no problem, shows all the stuff when booting up, but when it gets to windows the monitor says "check the input cable" and I get no picture.

Have I got the wrong sort of cable?

Sounds much more like a windows problem, have you tried going into windows in safe mode?

This has been asked but not answed in here, just wanted to know if anyone uses this with their Xbox 360 , if so is it any good for it? what resolution do you run through it?

I am interested in the same thing. ScottFree said:

So that seems pretty promising. The best resolution would be 1280x768 becuase that is the only 16:10 resolution the 360 can do.

Thanks for that. It works under safe mode which at least shows its not the wrong cable, but I have no idea what the problem might be.

You've probably set a resolution in windows that the monitor doesn't like, I think if you boot in VGA mode and reset it you should be fine :)

Failing that, uninstall your GFX driver in safe mode, go back in in normal windows (which will now default to 640x480) and reinstall the GFX driver. :)

Got it to work. :)

I unchecked some settings that were ticked in catalyst options called "reduce DVI frequency" and "alternate DVI operation mode".

Not played any games yet, but I can't tell if there is any difference between vga and dvi.

You would, now that i've just bought two.

They are great monitors, but i think one of the reasons for the low price is many have dead pixels. Both of mine have one dead/stuck pixel each. You just need to be prepared for that and don't expect it to be defect free. I'm not finding it to be a problem tho really.

Just wish i had waited a week to buy them.

I have been thinking about one of these or a Viewsonic 2025 at twice the price +.

Is there a lot to be gained from the extra resolution when used for photo editing, Word and internet? I am not interested in gaming at all.

The Hanns one is 1440 x 900 and 19"
Viewsonic is 1680 x 1050 and 20".

Gibbo: how about using your legendary buying power to get the Viewsonic price down?????
