Hanns-G HW191D Thread (Now £107.95 @ OcUK)

I have been thinking about one of these or a Viewsonic 2025 at twice the price +.

Is there a lot to be gained from the extra resolution when used for photo editing, Word and internet? I am not interested in gaming at all.

The Hanns one is 1440 x 900 and 19"
Viewsonic is 1680 x 1050 and 20".

Gibbo: how about using your legendary buying power to get the Viewsonic price down?????

Viewsonic won't budge from their pricing, they believe their product is a premium product and refuse to de-value it, plus Viewsonic are very margin orientated.

Why not get 2 of the Hanns g monitors for not much more than the price of a viewsonic? You get a lot more screen area for your money that way, and dual monitors are fantastic.

Got mine on thursday, and my PC up and running fully yesterday.

Lovely monitor, no dead pixels, no ghosting in game (already tried Q4, HL2 and DoDS), screen is great, and the silver finish matchs my lian li pc-7+ quite nicely.

Couldn't have got a better monitor for this price anywhere.

Ands its a lot easier on the eyes than my old CRT.

wow! a very nice price! :)

My goal is to get the Hanns-G 19" to a £99+VAT price point but I am still twisting peoples arms at Hanns-G to allow me to do this. Give it another 6 weeks or so and I think I might manage it, though there is rumours of panel prices increasing, so maybe now is the time to buy just in case. :)

Damn - I really want one of these monitors! I have never had a TFT/LCD monitor and right now i'm using a Dell CRT 19"(the back of it is HUGE-takes up all my desk). I want it to fail or the picture tube to go funny so i have an excuse to buy one of these. I would buy one of these straight away if i knew what to do with my old dell 19" crt which works perfectly :(

You could run a dual monitor setup but that would probably leave you with no room whatsoever.

Quick question: I like the look of this moniter, but the dead pixel rate is scaring me...

I don't care about DVI, should I get this or the Acer AL19WS? Acer would cost me £10 extra and has a slightly worse contrast ratio but seems to have less dead pixels, which are a BIG worry.

Cheers.

I sound stupid saying this but who cares:P What are the uses of dual monitors? Enlighten me please!

Im thinking of getting this screen for a secondary monitor to my Dell 2405FPW and use it for my TV Card.

Also i will be taking it to Lans as the box for my Dell 2405fpw is HUGE! Just wondering if anyone knows of any good portable carry cases for this monitor which would provide sufficient protection of the monitor.

Also does it come with built in speakers.. as i know the black version of this monitor does have it.

And that brings me to another point... how come u havent got the black version? :P

Okay guys, was looking at this screen for the bro... main selling point here is the fact that it has both DVI and VGA, so we can plug the PC into the DVI, and the 360 into the VGA.

How well does the 360 work on this screen? Obviously this screen is not native 360 resolution... we can set the 360 to 1280x768 for 16:10 ratio though.
Can we switch between the DVI and VGA input at will? So he can keep MSN running on the PC and switch to the DVI now and again while playing the 360, to check his MSN.

There's a option in the OSD menu which allows you to do this. I've never actually tried it with two devices hooked up at once, but I can only assume that's why the option even exists.

Ordered one of these today so cant wait for tomorrow :D Will let you know how it works...

On a slight offshoot, ive got an original xbox (PAL - i know NTSC does a high def pack) whats the best way to hook it up to this monitor, if in fact you can? halo 2 on a 14 inch telly isnt ideal :s

cheers :)

I'm using this monitor with my 360 and I have to say I'm quite dissapointed.

Connected via VGA using the official connector, the image is quite bland and lacking in any vibrant colour at times. Also the amount of jaggies is horrible, especially in PGR3.

Have a look at some of the pics I posted in this thread about the vga cable:

I've got an old NEC 16ms TFT thats 3 years old. On using the DVI-D input its all sharp and lovely but when i used the VGA input it was horrible with washed out colours. My housemate just bought this Hanns G and it displays the same issues in VGA so it may just be a thing that the VGA input isn't that great.
