Hanns-G HW191D Thread (Now £107.95 @ OcUK)

I've got an old NEC 16ms TFT thats 3 years old. On using the DVI-D input its all sharp and lovely but when i used the VGA input it was horrible with washed out colours. My housemate just bought this Hanns G and it displays the same issues in VGA so it may just be a thing that the VGA input isn't that great.

Anyone else experiencing this same issue with their Hanns G monitor and 360?

Just to point out, the internal scaler on the 360 is crap. I mean CRAP. It might actually be better to keep the resolution at 1280x720 (360 native, so bipasses the scaler) and letting the screen resize, as opposed to setting it to 1280x768.
I know there is an aspect ratio difference, but tests have shown most games just slightly stretch when set to 1280x768 anyway.

My screen is 1360x768, but I actuallt keep my machine at 1280x720, dispite the 360 supporting 1360x768 output, simply because the image quality is so much better when using 1280x720 and letting my TV do the work.

Hi there

Spoken to Hanns-G today and we've just had our last 1000 shipped to us at a price that is currently allowing us to sell at £107.95+VAT. :)

However they inform us that prices are indeed increasing and these are now costing more to produce so once we sell out of our remaining approx 1200 units the price will start going up, most likely back to the £120+VAT region......

How come they are costing more to produce.

Ok so the panel prices are increasing but surely when theyre moving them this fast i thought prices would be ok.

Well its quite obvious, if prices of the components/panel are increasing then they obviously need to increase the price to carry on making money.

Would you rather Hanns-G sell at a loss and then go bust?

Will we be seeing this jump in LCD prices across the board then?

And yes i know how if the panel prices go up and they obviously have to raise prices to compensate for that adjustment, what i was saying is, will they be increasing the price lower then the other companies seeing as this tft is selling like hot cakes.

Also has anyone used this LCD purely as a secondary for a TV card? if so whats it like.

Also Gibbo, will you be getting the black ones in by any chance?

Just recieved mine today, well two actually, the other is for a mate and yet to test that one, but this one is 100% defect and deal pixel free!

I'm not suprised if the price goes up, its an amazing monitor, better than i could have imagined and the pic all over the net for this tft does no justice at all! :), still got to try the X1800XT i also got today with it, but thats for later and a different thread :D

I sound stupid saying this but who cares:P What are the uses of dual monitors? Enlighten me please!
Whats the use of a single monitor? ;)

You ever tried dual monitors?
I haven't had a single monitor for at least a year, i now have two of these.
Dual monitors are fantastic, you can view two windows at once if you're copying something from a website to a word doc or reading from a website and writing in word. You can do two things at once, it gives you double the screen area.

Well you can do that anyway with "tile vertically", but the added desk space is really handy. I like to be able to surf the internet whilst watching TV/Movies on the other monitor.

Just got my Hanns-G and its great! No dead pixels what so ever though I seem to be getting random lockups on my computer and the monitor saying theres no video input or something. Not sure if it has anything to do with the monitor though I need to check.

Doubtful that its the monitor causing it. Do they happen when your in the middle of something usually?

hi thread,

how does the Hanns-G 19" widescreen compare to the Acer AL1916WS 19" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black/Silver (MO-012-AC)?

I'm jsut wary of the brand not being that well known, and reports of dead pixels on delivery./

Also - what is Hanns-G's policy on dead pixels RMA please?

The mobo is the prime suspect at the moment, but its strange that the problems have only started occuring since plugging in the Hanns via VGA. Basically when I switch on from cold (this is where it starts sounding like an old car) it might take about 4-5 reboots before I can finally get into windows almost liek it needs to warm up a bit. The monitor just shuts off and displays the 'can`t get signal' thing but the HD light is flickering and I can hear the typical noises of still loading windows. The cpu's are running hot (CPU0=60-64, CPU1=51-57) its an old GIGABYTE GA-7DPXDW server board with two Palamino AMD MP 2100+ and a gig of PC2100 DDR 266 ram. I`m gonna have to experiment...

Has anyone got the non-widescreen (SXGA) version of this monitor? What's it like? Oh, and does OcUK stock the black version? I've seen a completely black one (not just black stand) on some US sites.

Just got mine up and running no dead pixels :) Only little gripe when watching dvds I get a white glow at the top and bottom of the screen where the black stripes are.

Well anyway great improvement over my 15" CRT :D

just to say that I recieved my 19" hans Widescreen today, 1 dead pixel miles off to the right, which can't be noticed anyway in Windows...

but it's awesome, wonderful picture and lighter (and considerably) cheaper than what I paid for 15"tft !!!!

if you haven't already bought one - buy one now!! :D
