Hanns.G HZ281HPB 27.5" Widescreen LCD Monitor

I'm gonna call them tomorrow and ask whether they would consider exchanging mine for one of these new models. If not i think I may have to return this and buy one if all of you seem to be having no problems.

just wondering if others who have had one of these a while are still happy and have had no problems?
I've had mine almost 2 months now. Really pleased with it.
No backlight bleed. No dead pixels. No ghosting. Games look fantastic.

Only one very minor issue to report...
When I plug in my PS3 it stretches the vertical display to fit the screen instead of showing black bars at the the top and bottom. I've tried setting the "Aspect" in the Hanns G menu to "Fit" and "Full". Neither of them makes any difference. I've also tried going from HDMI (PS3) to DVI (Hanns G) and HDMI (PS3) to HDMI (Hanns G) and that makes no difference either.
It's not a big deal. It just means that I play my PS3 on my 40" Samsung TV instead :)

I agree with you mate there. I had one lazy pixel when I got mine, but after a few sessions with Jscreenfix deluxe. I have issues and gaming is sooo much better, especially going from a 19" monitor :D

when i had a hanns G monitor , i rma it and got a replacement same day

They guy told me they will take it for "repair". I didnt know they can replace it the same day.

I can't wait for weeks without a monitor. Am thinking of buying another one in the meantime while I wait.

Hello all. Can anyone kindly tell me what this screen is like for reading/writing text. I am a writer and use Celtx so how words look on the screen is very important. I don't expect anyone else to be using Celtx (unless they're also a writer) but if anyone can let me know how Word or PDF text documents look, it would be very helpful. Like many here, I will be making the transition from a very reliable SyncMaster 226BW -- If I take the plunge! lol

im no writer, however ive opened a few pdf's and used word on it.
perfectly clear text, and from going to this monitor from a 22" , i find the text easier to read too. thats at 1920x1200 res.
hope this helps.

I use mine mainly for web browsing and playing games. I am one of the people who upgraded from a Samsung 226BW.
I am perfectly happy with the clarity and sharpness of the text on this monitor. It looks very crisp to me. I use a 20" Dell all day at work for programming (in Visual Studio) and I would happily swap it for my Hanns G. (and not just because it's bigger.)

I see the HZ281HPB is only listed on the US Hanns. G site whereas the EU site lists the HG281DJ. The only difference I can see is the EU model is height adjustable and the X-contrast differs, not sure what that is?!

Sadly I will have to ruin this happiness spree.
One week ago I received the HZ281 instead of the hh281 I ordered. Contacted the online store and the told me that the differences between the two products were limited.
Thus, io decided to keep it for a few days and test it.
I soon noticed a few problems:
- Pink dominant on the whole screen. I tried removing it by using the custom color preset, but it was impossible. Probably it was fault of the lamp.

- Panel mounted wrong.

- The cover behind the lamps was mounted wrong or not mounted, because the lamp's light was projecting, trough the ventilation grid, on the wall behind the monitor, if the room was dark.

- Bleeding. Basically it was impossible to have total black. :(

Though, I was lucky, because the monitor didn't have any broken pixels and the overall brightness was uniform on all the monitor.

Thus, I'm returning it and I'm getting my money back.

It's really a waste, because the pixel density was simply perfect for me, and the 1200 vertical pixels were very useful. If only they had a higher level monitor with this sixe and this resolution... :(

Just my 2 cents. :)

I just bought one of these to replace my HP LP2475w as I wanted a larger screen for gaming, not really to worried about the colours being correct, I have a 27 imac for watching films ect.... arrives tomorrow!

Blimey

Just called them up again and they're replacing mine for the newer HZ281 model on Tuesday :p

Result .. although shame about the stand!

EDIT: WOW, not a single problem on this one, what a relief i can finally see black rather than that irritating negative effect :D

had my finger over the buy button on this for a few days now

currently got a 24" sammy of the same res but cant decide if this is worth upgrading too.

whats the dead pixel policy on it?

considering a 32" 1080p sammy too.
