Why on earth would anyone change their opinions. This isn't court you know

He can give you exact reasons for his choices. I can only offer conjecture ;)

I'm not asking you to change your opinion. Merely to understand the impetus behind making a low, good looking A8.

I do like the way it looks, being a lover of the VIP look.

Sure, it must be abysmal to drive, but I don't think that is the owners No1 priority.......

And that Saxo looks fantastic too

For me if that had more 'normal' profile rubber on it with the suspension raised up to give the same arch clearance to the top of the tyre that it has now that would look pretty good imo.

What a stuupid car. I had mine lowered a while back and its such a waste of time. I've had to screw the suspension back up by 30mm as it was so bad to drive like that.

A car that low cannot go over a slight verge, let alone a speed bump. Absolutely ridiculous.

Looks quite sleek and I think the wheels suit it, but I don't quite get what the fuss is about, it's just a lowered A8 - is there something particularly tricky about lowering cars? :p

Whilst I'm here on a slightly-related subject - when you lower a car like that, it means the suspension has to be rock hard doesn't it? Would that not mean other components are far more stressed and likely to break? What would be the next thing to break?

I'm curious as to what wheels 'would' suit it?

I don't know tbh, I just don't like the fat that they're look so flat - it makes them look even bigger than they are. I'm not trying to be a "I hate what you like" kinda guy. :)

Fox's suggestion look good.

While they work on that S8, they would look too busy and too cluttered on the one I posted.

Because the car has been debadged and cleaned up, it requires a wheel which is quite plain and sympathetic to the car.

Plus, where is the dish? VIP needs dish!

To me it just looks like the suspension has broken or something. I really don't get this fascination with making a car so low it's bordering on unusable...

what a bitchy playground place this part appears to be

I thinks its ok wouldnt want it myself but I can see the appeal I suppose. Saying "why buy an A8 if you want a car that handles" is the same as saying "why add a 1200w stereo to an A8". Its not going to be comfortable listening to music that loud so it wouldn't matter if it was a Saxo or a limo at any rate.

It's his car, i'm sure he enjoys it and I guarantee it turns heads irrespective of the reason

What is VIP?

Im guessing its Very important person?

Kinda like some Celeb, rapper, drug dealer or something?

Toyota celciors and the old squarer soarer's have that done to them quite

Don't worry. I simply question opinions to understand the reasons behind them :)

Fox's suggestion look good.

They look alright on that S8 but wouldn't work at all on the A8.

I'd like to try to explain how things work stylistically but I can't quite formulate my thoughts into words at the moment (blame the painkillers)...But there are certain things that just 'work' - you need the right modifications, the right wheels and the right stance. any compromise results in the overall effect being reduced and does nothing but show your lack of commitment to the way your car looks.

And because someone will pipe up with something about performance then I can simply say that any concession to looks will compromise the performance and any concession to performance will compromise the looks.

That does not mean that performance cars do not look good but that you need to be clear about what your car is.

I have to say that I'm not a fan of US-style VIP as I find it rather brash.

I much prefer Jap-style and absolutely love it clean and Euro like that A8.
