***Hardest Boss Thread***

Eh good thread ..

I remember some of the bosses in Tomb Raider Legends being quite difficult and the final boss in Unreal 2 but the boss in Far Cry was a nightmare iirc.

Lady Vashj from WoW. Still not killed her. Been working at it for about 10 hours total now, only made it to phase 3 of the phase 3 fight once, and at that point 20/25 people were dead anyway.

FF7 Demons gate & Materia keeper.

agreed. absolute nightmare if you havent aquired wall or big guard when you fight demon gate. although i thought materia keeper was a pushover.

edit: i gave up for months in utter frustration against demon gate just for the records :p

oh, and i cant believe some people having trouble with the final bosses on FF8..? i never had any trouble?

Any boss on Ninja Gaiden on the XBox was evil!

I remember getting owned so much I had to play it on Ninja Dog level!

M.

Lol! I know that loads of people just gave up after the second level and never bothered playing to the end. The last section is tiered into about 3 or 4 phases, with a boss that kicks your ass harder and harder each time. Believe me, I was whooping and yelling at about 3 in the morning when I finally beat it - a proper "punch-your-fist-in-the-air-and-laugh-manically" moment.

What an awesome game!

The last boss of super r-type.

When you know how, Emerald weapon can be killed using just Aeris and the right combination of materia.

Exactly what I was going to post. Have you played it recently though?

I used to really struggle with some (read "the first two") bosses on Xenon 2, but went back and played it again about 6 months ago and they're a doddle. 10-15 years of gaming practice I guess!

Last boss on Alex Kidd in Miracle World on the Master System. He was so tough, infact I started playing it recently on an emulator and have it saved right before the last boss and still can't kill him even after about 20 tries!

Not really a boss as such but the final volcano crater final level on far cry was solid then when you actually get to the boss he goes down with a couple hits.

Psychonauts - A few of the boss battles were brilliant because they were never straight-forward, and there were usually a few less-than-obvious things you had to do before, or while fighting them. One of the smartest and funniest games I've ever seen. Brilliant.

Far Cry - end boss was very difficult but not in a good way, or a clever way, it was just stupid, or as Cevat Yerli himself described the last levels: "horrible".

With regards to FarCry, i just thought it was annoying that there was physically nowhere to hide, and that he fired grenades out of his face, put u in a corner so u couldnt escape.

hmmmm

not necceserily (can't spell that...) 'bosses', but the F-Zero games on hardest settings were rock - F-Zero X on the N64 and GX on the GC got to an unbeatable point imho

Diddy Kong racing, again on the N64 had a multitude of hard bosses - the pig guy the first time you raced him, then you opened up the 5th 'spaceworld' zone which was rock, then the pig again (sigh), then the entire game again on mirror mode... and that clock guy was too fast... still one of the best racing games ever though imo

again, not a boss, but some of the levels on Goldeneye 007 on the hardest difficulty were just plain wrong - control on 00 agent springs to mind... stupid natalia...

and yeah - the pokemon games where you only have one chance to catch a pokemon (zapdos, articuno etc...) - those fights could literally go on for hours...

annnnnd, on the Gamecube - Skies of arcadia legends had some incredibly hard bosses toward the end. top game though.

My game is installed and saved at that point, I have still never finished Farcry as i just cant work out a way to past that final crator.

Another vote for Ruby weapon.......still havent beat tha red beast :(

first time through ff7 the cosmo canyon boss ( untill i found the phoenix down trick :D ) deamons gate ( MY GODDDDDDDD ) and the lost number, they all kicked my arse for a while :(

I had the same problem with Demon's Gate :D Drove me insane at the time.
Last time I played through, it felt so easy to defeat though :(
Personally it would have to be Lavos at the end of the old SNES RPG "Chrono Trigger"

Every time you beat a section of him and thought it was over, there seemed to be another one waiting to kick 7 kinds of the proverbial out of you... and the best characters to kill him with never had any decent healing spells!! Semi-turn based combat, but it was tough if you didnt time attacks right.

Anyone else remember playing this?

Yeah he was a right pain in the ass :/

Another one springs to mind, not exactly a hard boss but one which caught me by surprise the first time a played it and I know this has happened to a lot for my friends too.
Donkey Kong Country 1 on the SNES, you get to a last boss, kick its ass, credits come up on the screen, so you think “yeah finished the game now, lets put down the pad and watch the ending” About 15 seconds later the credits come go off the screen and the boss is back up on his feet jumping around the screen and kills you!!! So you have to do the whole boss battle all over again!!!! How many people got caught out by that?

Lady Vashj is much easier when comparing to Kael'thas Sunstrider which my guild is stuck on atm,

So my vote goes for Kael'thas Sunstrider, final Tempest Keep boss,

Final Ultimicia (sp?) in FF8, that was rock hard.

nah, she's easy. wait untill she does the attack leaving all your party with 1 health, then use the item (i don't remember what its called) that makes the whole party invulnerable. use limit breaks repeatedly untill she's dead. :)

My game is installed and saved at that point, I have still never finished Farcry as i just cant work out a way to past that final crator.

dodge the big-rocket-ones, just taking out the jumpy-ones with rifles (m4, OICW etc)
then avoid the remaining bigguns and finish the game :D
