Harry Redknapp gone

Interesting to see how AvB does

I reckon he might be better suited at Spurs where the expectation isnt so high as it was at Chelsea...plus didnt help AVB and other past Chelsea managers that Abramovich meddles too much in Chelsea affairs. Also he wont have to deal with the so called 'player power' that was rife at Chelsea when AVB were there.

Last night i heard Blanc was being touted as the next Spurs manager as hes out of contract when the Euros finish.

Depends entirely on how France do, Out at the 1/4s and he could be in, make it further and they will almost certainly offer him another contract

I'd prefer Blanc but depends on how well he communicates with the players. I wouldn't want to see another Ramos situation arising.

AVB.. well his time at Chelsea surely speak volumes.

I think it speaks volumes about the players/club more than AVB.

Get in a young manager to build for the future....
lose a few games
OUTRAGE
SACK HIM!

I'd say his time at Porto does him more justice. AVB had little support from RA (despite being given the objective of lowering the age of the squad) or the players at Chelsea and it's safe to say he'll be working in a far less volatile environment if he joins Spurs. I'm very happy we got Rodgers but would've taken AVB in an instant given the choice.

Which is why i said that AVB's time at Chelsea was a poisoned one ie if he didnt do well then he would be sacked. The expectations at Chelsea are stupidly high and thats due to the fact that they have a meddling owner and a few players ie Terry who court this 'player power';). All you have to do is look back at how many managers Chelsea have gone through in the past few yrs;):p. If i was a manager, i wouldnt want to manage Chelsea knowing full well what a poisoned chalice it is.

Personally i think AVB would do well at Spurs as the expectations arent as high as Chelsea and you guys dont seem to have a meddling owner like Chelsea do. Even City's owner doesnt seem to meddle all that much in their daily affairs.

Harry Redknapp was reportedly paid £3,000,000 in compensation by Tottenham, which after tax equates to approximately £3,000,000.

:D

The trouble with AVB he's yet to prove himself in a competitive league, Porto have won 8 out of the past 10 seasons along with a 2nd and a 3rd place finish. Steve McLaren could probably win the league with Porto.

The 'player power' thing may have been blown out of proportion, AVB was trying to force square pegs into round holes - high line and zonal marking. That lack of flexibility and trying to force change too quickly is the fault of AVB, he might've made some compromise to get a better overall balance for the team, then make personnel changes later to fully develop the new style of play.

Terry who court this 'player power'
I didn't much care for Lampard's somewhat public lack of support either, it could've been worse but he really should've kept the comments in house even when pushed by the press.

City's owner doesnt seem to meddle all that much in their daily affairs.
RA is motivated differently than most owners, City are striving to build a long term brand and going about it in an intelligent systematic way. RA is a little kid in a very expensive sweetshop and is easily swayed by the latest flavour of the month, and maybe most football fans fall into that trap?

AVB looks like a done deal according to the ITK's (actual ones and not random twitter accounts). would have preferred Blanc, I struggle to see what AVB has done in the game and therefore will be a huge gamble. The Portuguese league is about as competitive as the SPL, and winning the UEFA while a decent accomplishment, no one really takes it all that serious until the final.

Blanc has experience of the premier league as a player, won the French league, and turned talented but chaotic French team into a very formidable team playing great football, even Fergie talks him up as his possible replacement at Utd.

i was told AVB was done on friday by a good source but blanc has been approached. i think spurs want to avoid the possibility of the possible clash the euro's/frances progress could have. i think chelsea had a similar problem with scholari and portugal?

As an Arsenal fan, I can honestly say I was very surprised. I have (as do many other mates/family member Arsenal fans) a great deal of respect for his management abilities. Spurs will no doubt be regretting this soon, if they don't already IMO.

Do you also have respect for how the man speaks to the media?

I have supported spurs for 20 years roughly, while this is the best we have done in that time, it is also the time I have had the most conflict with the club, I HATED the way he spoke about us as "them", showed no loyalty, respect. The man is a merc, and I am glad he has gone.

I'd be happy with that, I dont really look at his time at Chelsea as anything other than a hiding to nothing. He never really got the team behind him and was hung out to dry imo, but I think he's got a good chance with us to put that right. He would come to us with lower expectations (than at chelsea) placed on him which should give him some time to mould his own team and hopefully a chairman that will support him.

We need someone to make us a bit more organised and someone who's a bit more strategically aware of how to change things up.

Article just looks like a re hash of the prior speculation, and actually is amusing: minimum requirement is to qualify for CL, and challenge for the PL in the near future. The pressure and objectives aren't much lower than Chelsea, the main difference is the chairman has slightly more patience than a five year old, in Levy's case maybe he has the patience of a 10 year old? :p
