Harry Redknapp gone

I can't believe that comment. No one is that foolish to believe there aren't other candidates.. How odd?

not so much there arn't other candidates as him possibly being told at the point in the discussion they'd got to he was the person they wanted, close to agreeing a contract etc and wouldn't be talking to anyone else.

as always with these things depends whats been said behind doors.

I don't believe the guardian stuff about AVB 'quitting' negotiations. Either that is some PR to force something from an agent or its filler on a slow day for the football journos.

Levy is in the USA on family business, he has not had a great run of things (I have read that he lost his mum and his wife is not well)

Think it will be AVB or Blanc

I think either Tottenham are interested in speaking to Laurent Blanc or AVB is the man but has refused to join while there is doubt over where Modric will be next season.

surpised if he's holding back just for that, modric stays or he gets a decent amount of money to work in the transfer market ?.

and read some of the bad luck levy has been having with personal matters of late :(.

Ducan Castle of the times is reporting AVB has agreed to become Spurs boss on a three year deal

have read elsewhere wont be announced till after July 1st due to the terms of his Chelsea compensation deal

Can you start right away? Spurs have offered job to Villas-Boas and want him to take over on July 1

Chairman Levy reckons Portuguese can take the club to the "next level."

Andre Villas-Boas: excited to take over at Spurs
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has offered the Spurs job to Andre Villas-Boas - and wants him to start on July 1.

Former Chelsea boss Villas-Boas has impressed the Spurs hierarchy with his plans for the club even though he was axed at Stamford Bridge after less than eight months in charge.

Villas-Boas will be expected to work with Tim Sherwood at Spurs as his star is in the ascendancy and Levy wants him to be a key part of the set-up.

France boss Laurent Blanc was also in the running but Villas-Boas impressed the most during Levy's search for a successor to Harry Redknapp.

They also sounded out former England boss Fabio Capello who, along with Blanc, will remain in the frame until Villas-Boas is signed and sealed. Capello is interested in making a return to English football but his wage demands proved prohibitive.

Levy initially fancied Everton boss David Moyes and Wigan's Roberto Martinez and decided to go foreign because he believes a new philosophy is needed to take the club to the "next level."

Villas-Boas has some reservations about the job because he wants complete control and also fears losing Luka Modric who has made it clear he wants to leave for Real Madrd.

Tottenham also want the new manager to start on July 1 for various contractual and legal reasons while Villas-Boas is also free from any ties to Chelsea.

They are also confident of landing Hoffenheim midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson from under Liverpool's noses - although Brendan Rodgers has one last ace to play

Anyone else find it strange that spurs are still going in for players without a manager? just don't get it.

This is the point really isn't it. Levy wants full control at this level so that he has a say over who comes in at and at what price. It's the way things have been done at Spurs for years. I'm not a great fan of this tbhy. I'd rather him give a manager a cash pool and say "here, buy who you want out of that". A new manager would surely will want his own toys..

Garath Bale sign new 4 year contract

Garath Bale just signed a new 4 year deal.

i don't find it strange spurs going in for players with no manager, i'd be worried if we weren't ...... not that we've officially signed anyone.

maybe we are getting taken over and new manager announced tuesday?

Who knows what's going on behind closed doors. I'm quite surprised at the Bale extension, then again it means nothing, only guarantees both club and player more cash for any imminent transfer.

but the takeover rumour could be true, if we've dressed it up for him by saying we're getting a new manager and new owners and investment.

a poster on here, announcement on the 1st or 2nd of july app.

i think it will just be a new manager announced tbh and the more i think on it, we must have someone almost appointed and this has got bale to extend.

levy is a machine, he's had an awful past couple of weeks but never takes his eye off getting the job done.

now to get the best deal for all involved with modric.

Agreed mate.. he must have someone in mind. Why else would Bale agree. I wouldn't not knowing who's incoming.

Since Levy answers to the ENIC he's just doing his job set by the board. I wouldn't expect anything less from him. The Modric saga last year impressed me but his haggling over peanuts annoys me and he certainly should have put his foot down when the England rumours started flying.

That was me :)

I've been trying to find the site I saw all this from but with it being Q-End at work I haven't had a chance.

Short story is Joe Lewis has taken on a more hands on role at the club to get things into place for a takeover which has apparently been agreed and is currently with Premier League Lawyers awaiting confirmation. The new owners apparently are behind moving Redknapp on, paying for the next stage of the NDP and bringing in new players. I've heard it's all due to be announced on Monday, but I'm guessing a lot of this is rumours and conjecture so wouldn't like anyone to take it as gospel.
