Haswell -E Core i7-5960X, 5930K, 5820K specifications

no you only have to read the reviews about the 290Xs to realise how good they are....read them for yourself, nobody here gives a damn if you need a 1000 watt PSU, instead of an 800Watt.

actually what ive read is that the 290x are hot and required proper cooling solutions before they were usable...

"nobody gives a damn if you need bigger psu" ? well they should..

anyone who wants a build for a set budget should understand that due to the inefficiency of AMD gpus and cpus you will need to spend more on PSU, cooling and electricity

>

this means the whole "buying for performance for your ££" is completely negated and shows a complete lack of what is actually seeing further than 2min in front of your faces...

you dont build a gaming rig to save money, both are polar opposites !!!!..because if this is what you want then you're better off buying a console instead.

but if you really want to save money..... but still have power, then build yourself a really good i5 2500 rig, because these components are dead cheap, i'm rebuilding my old one right now, this is a bit stupid of me but i cant help it......

right so everybody on the planet can spend 3 grand on a computer?

** geeze **

btw for the price of a console and set of games you can get a decent gaming machine... which you cant really view your emails, watch youtube or store any data... which means youd have to buy a computer anyway negating your argument... <_<

you dont need to spend many thousands of £££ to get a decent machine... £600 and you can have everything you need for gaming...

£600 .............. i doubt it:eek::eek: you can only buy a good rig for £600 if it's second hand......... the brand new ones here that Overclockers sell for 600 to 800 quid aren't top end gaming rigs, they're average.

i'm scared to think, but it's about £1600 and rebuilding my old i5 about £300.........but the big expense will be next years GPU....

While this entire discussion is off topic, I want to inform people that GK110 consumes more power and runs hotter than Hawaii once overvolting is in the picture.

this is so bad...........now lets look at the Titan and Titan Z......the Z is way too much money, so that looses your arguement straight away and the Titan is too average and dull......... but the Z is the worst, because that has a very poor price to power ratio

now you compare this to an MSI Lightning 290X, it's brilliant, it's mean and sexy and overclocks like crazy........finally, we have the 295X2 which is actually not too expensive and with Water cooling; it'll overclock as well, this one runs cool.............but for 1080p only, i dont need it to be overclocked... it'll last me for 3 years and run as lazy as anything.

i'll give you something though..... the Devil 13 is **** yes, but that's a rubbish Chinese Powercool ``toy`` card, so this **** up isn't AMD's fault is it.

finally, many of the other 290X are great as well, esp the Sapphire.... or even the standard MSI version....cheap too

Nvidia look dull, the only good one was the GTX 8800 and that was REALLY GOOD !

Yes the Nvidia GTX 8800 was probably one of best cards at time of release. still have one collecting dust was thinking about selling it but with pricing only being around the £20.00 mark it is better just keep it and use it on my builds test rig. But it gets you thinking how much will a £2000.00 Titan be in a few years.

Horny carrots, handbags at dawn. Off topic much.

This, we've had arguments about the FX 8350 and now it's turning into a classic GPU section AMD vs Nvidia thread!

Dang it I want to know more about haswell-e, I think we've all established it isn't going to be a cheap platform to upgrade to, but it is an enthusiast platform after all, for everything else there is devils canyon!

Nvidia is just like a Rolls Royce, it's well built but boring, an AMD is more like a Shelby Mustang ...... not much more to say really :p

except, realising this, i am surprised that their CPUs are just as bad now as 3 years ago

Boring works :D.

Classified <3.

Think this needs to get back on track though. This is the problem with speculative threads \:D/

this will work great for 1080p... in 2 years get a GPU upgrade and you're laughing...

you do not need 4k gaming and it is way too expensive to get it...

This, we've had arguments about the FX 8350 and now it's turning into a classic GPU section AMD vs Nvidia thread!

This thread should just be closed tbh and make a new one without all of the ****, 16 pages of drivel for the most part and hardly any mention of Haswell-E beyond ALXAndy (a notorious AMD fanboy) telling us why we shouldn't buy it. :p

yes i agree, but that isn't ideal at all, because with that lot you'd only be gaming at 1080p with many of the settings turned down............try playing Crysis 3 or Metro with that set up..

finally where's the cpu cooler, the soundproofing, the fans, Win 7..........now lets have a look at that pc case , oh dear, that case is pretty bad

Stock cooler ???? well maybe; but you wont be able to OC very far..... and that Mobo !!!!!!!!! flipping heck, that's come out of a Christmas Cracker !!!!! sorry m8 you've got gear missing, once built it might be ok, but it aint for me

but i do find what you've come up with quite interesting though.

You wouldn't have many of the settings turned down.

You honestly don't have a clue what you're talking about.

yes i do; it's you that's talking rubbish, my old rig is miles more powerful than that and it's struggling already on 1080p........... to get it to play Metro most of the settings are on Medium.....FACT...... because If i turn it up to Ultra i'm on about 30fps or less

You need masses of power for Metro. Don't forget to patch it though, stops the 0 FPS bugs..

I struggled through it on 670 SLI and a FX 8320 clocked to 4.2ghz. Absolutely stunning game but yeah, eats rigs alive.

Most important part ? cores. The game just wants as many as you've got.

Seconded!

I have been keenly following the release of these new chips but this thread is now about anything but. This has been derailed and, dare I say, trolled. No one is saying that everything must be positive about a new release however this is now well beyond a reasonable expression of negativity on the subject. By all means start a new thread to have a flame war but can we please get back on track with this thread or, as above, start a new thread without the drivel?

You can get a decent tower for 600 quid that would do most people at 1080p easy.

Agreed, Z97 mobo with an i5 or i7. 8GB / 16GB ram, throw in an GTX 750 ti or 260X and you'll be set with a decent gaming PC for 1080P.

X99 is for E-Peen, workstation, benching. If just for gaming nobody needs to look past Intel's mainstream chips.

I need want X99 for benching, encoding and E-Peen :D
