Haswell -E Core i7-5960X, 5930K, 5820K specifications

Still rocking a 2500K. This isn't the tech I was looking for :p

I said when I bought Sandy that I'd only upgrade to a Skylake i7, it still looks like i'm sticking to that.

I said the same, although I also said I wouldn't upgrade anything in my computer within 3 years when I first built it.... a year and a half on, the only parts that haven't been changed are the motherboard and 1 HDD...

I have a habit of slowly changing parts one by one until almost none of the original parts remain :p

I said similar, the only original parts are the CPU, half of the RAM and 1 HDD :p

But that was because I wasn't pleased with the aesthetic. :p

Excuses, excuses :p

I did warn a few of my friends that recently built computers that setting a budget will never work, and that upgrading components can become dangerously addictive very quickly :D

Aye that it can. The PC has been in the same state for quite a long time now though, ever since the GTX6XX series was quite new. Life got in the way of pointless upgrades. :p

I did have a GTX780 for a brief moment, but I went back to the 670 because of coil whine from the motherboard (yep, the motherboard.)

I was considering upgrading to X79 after my last exam as a present to myself, but then I realised that would be completely unnecessary for what I use the computer for :)

My brothers PSU seems to be making some coil whine (so I've bought him a new one for his birthday) Although me and my brother can hear it easily it is too high pitched for my parents to hear, so I guess that's one good thing about getting older if nothing else :p

I upgraded to a P9X79 Pro and a 3820 for about a week but sold it on for what I paid because I wasn't doing anything particularly intensive...

Coil whine drives me round the bend because I fold 24/7. So its still there even when I'm trying to sleep. The 670 used to do it but thankfully it has stopped after a couple of years of hard folding. :p

Sometimes thinking something is coil whining when it isn't is just as bad, for quite a few weeks I was convinced my AX860 was coil whining, despite all my flatmates saying otherwise.

I now realise it was just in my head and it doesn't make a sound :)

Yeah I experienced similar with my HX1000. I was so fed up with coil whine that I thought the very faint electrical sound of it being on, was coil whine. Whenever I buy something new, I think I'm paranoid about coil whine to the point at which I begin to imagine it.

Anyway, I think we are de-railing the thread... I accept responsibility as the drunk one and the one who started the discussion :p

Steam name is Arcanum-325 if you want to speak sometime. I ought to hit the hay now. :)

Ah yes, apologies everyone- I also must accept responsibility as a tired student who should probably be revising instead of procrastinating on the forums :p

I've sent you a friend request, I should probably also go to sleep soon :)
