Haswell -E Core i7-5960X, 5930K, 5820K specifications

Will be interesting to see if they keep the same price points, £240 for a hex core?

I was looking at that one aswell, Currently the 4820 levels across from the 4770 apart from a few obvious changes but the 5820 comes in with the extra cores and if it does price pretty close then it's gonna be a no brainer to a lot of us. I can't see it though, Just wishful thinking on our part.

I was considering upgrading to X79 after my last exam as a present to myself, but then I realised that would be completely unnecessary for what I use the computer for :)

My brothers PSU seems to be making some coil whine (so I've bought him a new one for his birthday) Although me and my brother can hear it easily it is too high pitched for my parents to hear, so I guess that's one good thing about getting older if nothing else :p

Your not wrong I'm on the wrong side of 40 and I struggle to see a difference between TN and IPS Panels nowadays.

lol considering that the Ivy-E i7-49xx have not been out for that long, the Xeon version isn't out yet, the X99 chipset boards are still in dev stage and DDR4 (Which is required) is not freely available (Even as dev kits to oems) they are a looooong while off yet.

Gives me the time to earn the cash i need for a complete platform change :) so fine with me. Seems like an investment of atleast 700-800 pounds.

They're due out in September. Unlike pretty much every other recent Intel launch or proposed product, there has been absolutely no mention of a delay whatsoever. Should get a date this week at Computex.

A Haswell E 6 core (the 5820k) cannot be near the same price of the Haswell 4 core. So unless Intel are going to drop the price of the I7 Haswell (lol), the 5820K as a 6 core chip will be priced accordingly.

The Internet ;) reports state 2nd Half of this year so it could be 31st of Dec.. Considering that many manufacturers of X99 Chipset motherboards are only in the design stage at the moment i highly doubt sept will be the date. But then again what do i know ;)

That's not really indicative of anything, as I wouldn't expect them not to be, especially for a platform which makes no concessions whatosever to backwards compatibility (CPU or RAM). Final hardware designs for motherboards tend to be left until the very last moment they can, so they can be tuned as much as possible and fluctuating capacitor prices can be accounted for as well as possible ... and that says nothing of firmware, which can frequently be described as 'beta' for weeks or months after new motherboards or platforms launch, let alone before.

But when OEMs/System builders have not even silver/gold samples of the boards for Xeon versions of the cpus when they have had CPUs for a few months isn't a good sign.

Latest word from Taipei is that they're still aiming at an August launch, but Intel asked mobo makers not to show any X99 at all at Computex, and concentrate on marketing Z97&H and DC.

Maybe the 8 core atom server processor is the way to go... ;)

I'll definitely be replacing my i7-920 with one of these haswell-e's but when will probably depend a lot of the price of the motherboards and DDR4 memory (and how much I'll have to save).
