***Haswell -E Owners Thread***

why would u wanna run it full speed all the time?

just disable intel speedstep,no idea why tho:eek::p

it shouldn't throttle down if cpu is stressed

id still use powersaving, that's what its designed for to put less voltage through the chip depending on load ect

it still performs exactly the same at 100% stress

personal choice really but if its there and it works fine then use it I say

^^ This,

Keep setting optimized allow turbo to go whatever speed you want, you get the benefit if extra performance under load, and power savings at idle which used way more than full load anyway.

I've had issues in the past with some games not using turbo and staying at the base clock, I've read about people experiencing the same elsewhere too. A lot of people disabled the C states when overclocking for stability.

tried leaving turbo's on auto and just raise the cpu multi ? never had that issue, same goes for overclocking never had powersaving affect my oc

Glad to report my 5820k + Asus X-99A build went perfectly! Only problem was on the very first boot it only picked up 3 out of 4 RAM sticks, but that fixed it's self on the next reboot.

CPU and Mobo performing really well today, survived benching and BF4 session @ 4.5Ghz.

24/7 clock is now 4Ghz + XMP 2666mhz. Memory not causing any crashes working really well. Normal volts with +0.075v. Gives 1.229v under full load at 4Ghz and downclocks to 1200mhz / 0.878v when idle. Loving this setup.

Have you tried overclocking your NB Frequency Boomstick777

Thanks for the information. You answered my question that I meant to ask in both ways. I wasn't sure if profiles existed or if there was a way for it to downclock itself on the fly when you're overclocking.

Yeah it's just a temporary situation. I plan on getting a 980ti or a 8 gig 980 sometime soon...or two. I can't justify getting 4gigs of ram for 4k resolution right now since the 980ti might be coming out in a few months. Right now I'm just playing League of Legends and Diablo 3 though so nothing too crazy. They both run at 60FPS with medium(?) graphic settings which I'm fine with since as I said; it's just a temporary situation. If you want my opinion of 4k monitors I would say it's a bit ahead of it's time depending on what you want it for. If you want it for gaming and your machine can handle 4k resolution then go for it. The resolution is beautiful. If you want the resolution for browsing the web then i would just go with a large 1440 monitor. The scaling in windows isn't too great right now. Maybe windows 9 will help but the official release for that is still a ways.

Yes I have decided to wait for 4K Ips panels before upgrading, (when they are at reasonable prices) Couple of mates have the Samsungs 4K Tn panels and the fluctuation in picture quality between the two is very bad but yes 4K resolution is impressive.

Im in the club :) Love that feeling when you are about to press power button and its like Will it boot or is it ****ed :D Longer tubing is a bonus as i did not had to drain my loop :] Did not had time to do any oc besides OC Gene 3.8. And need 2 reinstall fresh system when I have some spare time.

Intel Tuning plan purchased so from 1st November I can put some proper volts in this CPU and see what it can do :D

I have spent the last couple of weeks stalking this thread, deciding if I should go for a X99 system. I have seen a few people run into issues and it was putting me off. However, I bit the bullet and grabbed myself -

5820k CPU
MSI SLI Plus Motherboard
16GB Corsair 2666MHz RAM

And, I’m relieved to say it worked first time with no fuss. The RAM was set to 2133 which I changed to 2666 and the CPU I overclocked to 4GHz. Not a single problem, temps are good and all seems stable. Not had a great deal of time to bench yet. In fact I had more issues with the delivery from OCUK than the system ;)

Well in my case no problems plug and play. Installed drivers from dvd updated bios ect everything runs. Even had last bit of Liquid metal to apply on cpu. Took allot of cpu block polishing to clean most of previous stuff off temps look good. Idling at 26c on hottest core.

Glad it worked first time. Hopefully, when I get mine back, it'll also work first time!

Might be coming into some money soon, decided to upgrade my 1st gen i5 and this is what I'm going for:

5820K
Asus X99-Deluxe (I always get Asus motherboards)
Corsair Vengeance 16GB (4x4GB) DDR4 PC4-21300C15 2666MHz
SuperFlower Leadex GOLD 1000W Fully Modular "80 Plus Gold" PSU (For future proofing, might get another GTX 970 at some point)

My question is what CPU cooler should I go for? I have a cooler master storm sniper case so have some room to play with.

At the price of the H105 I would get a H110 if you can accomodate it. It's not really any better it just makes an awful lot less noise running two 140mm AF fans as opposed to 120mm SPs.

I paid around £88? or so for mine. So much quieter than my H100.

Each to their own, not sure where you got that it's louder from though.. H105 has a thicker radiator, fans can run lower RPM and get rid of same amount of heat, so it's really quiet using 120mm fans.

It would come down to which rad / fans can fit in your case, for me in CM 690 III 120mm with thicker rad was ideal.

H105 Radiator dimensions: 272.5mm x 120mm x 38mm

H110 Radiator dimensions: 140mm x 312mm x 29mm

Hi Lord_ZED, which bios version did you install, I grabbed the v22.0 which was (strangley) removed from the MSI site just the other day, but I haven't installed it (for that reason). Just wondered which one you are using?
