Anybody know how well a 5960x runs on a Corsair H105 with an over clock of around 4.0 to 4.2?

If I buy this I can't afford full water cooling until next year so the aio will have to suffice.

You should be fine at those clocks unless you have a dog of a chip that requires lots of volts, with that cooler I'd say your limited to 1.25v max and with those volts I can comfortably do 4.4-4.5ghz

I use 1.32V for 4.7GHz and my H100i is OK. A H105 performs a tad better than 100i

Why do people favour the SOC over other boards? I've read the reviews they all seem pretty much the same?

Better power delivery, they help you get more Ghz out of Haswell cpu only around a extra 200 to 300 Ghz with water cooling.

Yep and no thus far.
All 16 threads on the go @4.9ghz i can run a few bench's but 5g is a no go, but i'll keep trying

4.9 is still pretty incredible considering how quick these things are at stock

thats not a stable 4.9Ghz just stable enough to run a few benchmarks.

100% stable @4.7Ghz 1.4v with a 4.6 cache and 2666 ram at cas 12

only when running things like XTU do they hit 79-80c but that was at 4747mhz and 1.43v

Nickolp1974 what volts do you use for 4.6 cache ?? im at 1.225 and anything pass 3600 wont boot in to windows.

Nice and stable @ 4.0Ghz and memory at 2666mhz, no memory weirdness anymore. Keeps the setting even from cold boot. Eats up gaming and encoding for breakfast. Really liking this setup

Spot you're not removing the stock backplate by any chance are you? Someone on OCN was moaning he'd gone through three x99 deluxe boards. Turned out he was trying to fit a waterblock backing plate for a regular Haswell board and shorting them.
