Hated Religon

I went to university with lots of mixed religions, many of whom I am good friends with even after finishing university and yes some of there "religous chores" do seem very eccentric to me but as I have explained to them.

If we were both born at birth by our current parents but swopped to each others family, ie i was born to be raised in a Muslim family and he was born to be raised in a Catholic family, I could almost gaurantee that he would be a Catholic and I would be a Muslim (obviously erasing the fact that I would be white and he would be dark skinned so it would be pretty obvious we wernt from our familys) and this is what im trying to explain is that if you are raised in a family such as a Muslim one you are more than likely going to be a Muslim and vise a versa.
Now I am of age to decide what I want to be im more of an Atheist than Catholic but in a Muslim family I dont think you could change as easily.

Sorry for a long explanation but either way you either end up a nice person or a not so nice person, and its as simple as that, religion doesnt matter, nor does colour of skin nor does anything else and for some one to hate or dislike some one else purely beacuse of there skin, religion etc they are just purely IGNORANT and they fit in the category of "not so nice person"

I actually think that religion is just a made up story (and was written down) which was created years ago to control empires of wrong doing. For example, the 10 comandments was made to stop people doing things that were wrong and to stop people continuously doing it they would make up a story about an angel or sumthin comign and tellign them that if anyone broke these rules they would go to hell or sumthin, and it obviously worked...

nah stoning people to death is in the not so nice category :) the people you are pointing out here are the ignorant ones who belive stoning is correct simply because they have more than likely been brought up to belive that it is correct

I think you missed the bit where I created a fictional situation such that SPW was not allowed to attend the sausage-fests he so loves!! :D

Why I oughtta..... :D

I agree but at least science tries to further its understanding, religion has no interest in doing so.

If you've found the 'truth' then why do you need to look further?

As a corollary of this, why is ignorance necessarily bad in certain select instances? Time to whap out a quotation "One of the indictments of civilizations is that happiness and intelligence are so rarely found in the same person." - William Feather. Ignorance in general isn't good but if it keeps someone happier and doesn't hurt them or anyone else then I don't see the harm.

My main gripe with religion isn't actually with the religion at all, its with the fact that people hide behind it as an excuse for their own agendas.

Wither your Christian, Jewish or Muslim you’re not supposed to eat port or drink alchahol.

But Christians do, do some research 1st testimony, but along the line someone changed or bended the rules, as its happening in Islam sometimesI think Christians are also not supposed to eat prawns or shellfish. Another law that got 'forgotten' by most of them.

Also, all the Jewish people I know eat pork.

Christians are permitted to eat any food they like, since they are not required to keep the Law of Moses. There are no dietary restrictions for Christians.

Religious Jews may not eat pork.

Are aliens mentioned in any bibles? other worlds nobody knows about?

Who is there god, who would they follow? Surely if they came to visit we would question everything we believed.

I bet one day a bunch of aliens is coming to arrive on Earth, and the first thing they'll do is tell us all about their religion.

:D
