First off i cant work out how you guys show your basket so heres the link.. https://www.overclockers.co.uk/checkout/cart

second, i'm new to building and hoping someone can check over my basket to make sure all the components will work together etc for racing simulation gaming. ill be adding a monitor(suggestions welcome)/keyboard/mouse onto that too.
so have i got literally everything i'm going to need to build and start gaming? all cables, screws/nuts/bolts etc?
maybe you could suggest your own basket of parts? all i really don't want to change is the graphics card...as i've read its the best 1070 you can get, only 7fps behind a 1080.

thanks so much for your help!!

thanks to 'southernorth' heres the basket:
my basket at overclockers uk:
Total: £1,575.28 (includes shipping: £14.70)

To show your basket on the forums:

Go to basket on website > click 'BBCODE' > copy all text in black box > paste the text into a forum post.

The CPU AIO cooler has been upgraded to 280mm - so better cooling performance.

The 8600k CPU chosen has extra threads and cores over the 7700k in your basket, so this will be more future proof and perform better in certain games.

A 550W PSU is fine for this setup. The chosen unit has a longer warranty (3 extra years) and is reviewed very well.

The Phanteks case is easy to build in, has good cable management options, decent ventilation and plenty of room for all components.

A GTX 1070ti is essentially a GTX 1080 when overclocked, but for less money. The Aorus 1070 you've linked won't be as fast as this 1070ti; even when overclocked heavily. The Zotac card has a decent cooler and a 5 year warranty, but no UK RMA unfortunately.

**Other potential upgrades**
2TB+ HDD - storage fills up very quick nowadays. I think only a 1TB HDD will be limiting.
Samsung 960 Polaris 500GB NVMe SSD - much faster read and write speeds over a SATA SSD.

I would definitely recommend the above 2 storage upgrades, but this will push the budget well above 1600.

bit more then your selected, gtx 1080 - 1070 Ti when overclocked is a little slower then gtx 1080 FE Stock- but when its overclocked the 1080, specially ram from 10gbps to 11gbps pulls away.
Heads up, can get Aorus GTX 1080 11gbps edition which its ram can reach 12Gbps- though buy the rest from ocuk as they have better warranty and customer service - gigabyte products you can go directly to them if an issues occurred . UK RMA center is north of london . VR panel included, the Aorus cards have internal header which can be hooked up to VR panel in front for VR headsets. Know you mentioned Racing sim so wasn't sure if you where going down headset and wheel route or ultra wide screen and wheel - seems racers or either camp.

looks around the threads you'll see a few Pure/Aorus builds for VR set up :)

Thanks for the advice, i had no idea i would need an extra panel to run VR! I am intending to go VR in the future so thats a big help! One thing i forgot is an OS, can i download windows or will i need to fork out the £100.00?

I notice on your list orbitalwalsh, there is no no back up hard drive is this on purpose or not?

Was lazy and cost, went all out for larger SSD , can always grab a HDD when ever, it's anything RAM based that's going up and up in price .

If you have access to window 10 and windows media creator ... You just have to Google the rest ... Others or Google can explain that one :D

Front panels help , don't know a lot of people personally with head sets but know they always pack it up when they are done and PC isn't always in the most accessable lace to reach around the back and unplug stuff... 1st world problems :)

Hope list helps :D

Currently testing my i7 8700k on lower tier bequiet Shadow rock slim with has a lower class fan and have the density of that cooler in the list and just handles it at 4.8 GHz with 1.35v ... So that one should handle it well , even on 100% should be quite

You don't need an extra panel at all to run VR, it's just slightly easier having the HDMI ports on the front. Alternatively you could just turn your pc around so the back ports face forwards, for free.

PS4 pro , half the price and no turning around :D
But valid point, if you do have your rig on a table then could be easier to mount it side ways and grab a cheaper case or windowless if backwards . Can also downgrade to a cheaper GPU model brand

ok great thanks for clearing that up. I don't mind spending an extra few £££s to get the cables to the front, i can see that being a bug bear so ill opt for the extra panel. What about if I'm plugging a wheel and pedal set in? Do they do front panels for those? Ill do another basket tonight and post up on here for you to double check it before i place the order if you don't mind. Cheers

Case has 2x usb 3.0 ports by power button so guessing those could be used and well as the two ports that come with the VR panel. Just have to check how many internal USB connectors there are on the board

*****
Board has two internal USB ports so can hook up vr panel and case usb at the front to the board, that's 4x usb 3.0 ports you can use

Go for it, get a list up :)

ok, heres where Im at...read on another post it was a good idea to add a couple of extra fans so i did, i like the orange be quiet case so hey presto! got myself some orange fans haha. Give it a skim over if you wouldn't mind and let me know if ill need anything else, E.G cables or extra screws/bolts anything miscellaneous that I've missed really. Gone with your recommendation on vast majority, like the graphics card and bigger SSD but maybe if needed in the future i can pick up aa 2TB HDD if needed. Guess ill need to decide wether to get it all on monthly or pay up front hmmm...
Thank you for your time pal!

Looks good mate ! Mobo normally has two days cables in but just plain standard ones .
Yeah, wise to 2x 140mm in the front. Plug them into the Mobo and not the case fan controller for fine tuning. Move the case 140mm to the rear top is you want, keep that hooked up the case fan controller and run how you like. Should be running slightly more possitive pressure which is good :)
Think with that ram too, should be able to set XMP and change from 3200hz to 3333hz and same timings :)
You'll be loving it :) just make sure you manage to get a good small hdmi cable to hook up the vr panel to the card :)
Have a Google on that aorus card though, should get the 1080 version under £500 and 11gbps under £550.£70-30 saved right there :D
Might even be enough to swap to i7 8700k ;).....
Ocuk sell the rest of the kit above cheaper and Def worth sticking to for the main bulk buy

Brilliant that mate, great advice, ill be sure to take it on board!

Heres a question for ya...what actually happens when you first start up and self built? Only ever had pre built that work straight out the box....

Cheers

(currently googling that 1080 card) :D

Cheers!

Once you've put It all together, including hooking it up to a monitor or TV, you'll have to switch it on and enter the bios to select a boot device.
This will probably be Windows 10 on a USB stick or Dvd. The dvd or USB should be plugged in before you power on.
You'll then have to save settings and reboot.
Then you can install Windows.

That said, it may be that the motherboard is pre configured to boot from any device, so it may be that as long as your Windows disk /USB is plugged in before you power it up for the first time, it will find it and just ask you if you want to install Windows.
