Have i got everything i'll need???

@Kev1eighty7
That's a damn good price , mine was £520 months ago for the 11gbps version .

I run 8 pack kit at 4000hz , dropped down to 3800hz due to 5% error running mem tests over 2 hours . Min frame rate is about 5+ higher .
Not much difference with normal gaming but if your running 4k were every frame counts and VR to keep frame rates high and smooth as possible , I'd pick it . Rocking a gtx 1060 on a. 1080p wouldn't bother .
Plus you've got help of 8 Pack with the ram for any advice and clocking it :)

You also get 2x 140 pure wings installed at the front . Would move one to the top rear and the other one to the bottom . The two silent wings at the front to use that high static pressure to drive air into the case . That way you'll be running possitive pressure to avoid dust build up in the case . You could move both pure wings to the top , but run them at a very slow speed to keep possitive pressure :)

Another train of thought .
Keeping the Bequiet range but the new nice pure 600 with 5.3" bay in the front . And since 250watt /TDP Dark Rock Pro 3 can't fit and the Dark Rock 3 190watt would have to work a little harder but would fit, there's the Dark Rock TF which is 220watt/TDP. Has 2x 135mm silent wings , ones have only one or 135mm and 120mm . Has the benefit of blowing air directly o the VRMs which is a very good feature , specially on coffeelake systems and is 135mm tall so would fit and over the ram modules.
Will also cool down the NVMe drive as well
Plus would actually look pretty neat

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £172.24 (includes shipping: £12.30)

Helps case is on sale so makes up for the cooler not being
Move the single fan to the top so will be having 120& 140mm haunting - keep it linked up to case fan controller , lowest setting and then the two silent wings at the front - set max speed 80% constant as they are quiet and jobs done :)

This Alpenfohn doesn't block any ram slots so you are fine to use tall ram.

Not sure if it cuts into the GPU PCIe brackets . Most of reviews are for previous version 2 which sits close to the GPU

Fitting older amd socket just fine

***Finally , better shot. Seems it's all good. Mounting contact us via two opposite ends where as bequiets is 4 mounting contacts in each corner. Both have their pros and cons

Surprised it's not things boost 2 fans, version 3 look less in static pressure and higher in airflow

Yeah it should be fine. The first gpu slot is pretty low down on the Gigabyte board. The x1 slot might be blocked but that shouldn't be a problem as there are two other pcie slots at the bottom.

Yeah every review seems to be in German or some other language. From what I have read (Using Chrome and translate) it performs well. It is a 220W TDP rated cooler so the same thermal rating as the BeQuiet TR.
The design is a smart one, think cryorig use same the method of offsetting the sink to avoid the ram.
Yeah, only thing I was and didn't like with the wording is Up To 220w.. half of the reviews have dual fans.
Sure they did a dual tower version ?

Not sure why it is worded like that on here. On Alpenfohn's website it says 220W TDP and not 'up to' 220W TDP.

Don't know about a dual fan version, but you can fit a 2nd fan to it.

From Alpenfohn website:

Key Features

  • Tower cooler having 5*6mm heatpipes and 220W TDP
  • Aerodynamically optimized fins creating increased flow speeds
  • Asymmetrical structure of heatsink for close to 100% RAM compatibility
  • WingBoost fan of the 3rd generation including guide wheel for axial flow direction and minimized twist of air flow allowing whisper quiet operation
  • RockMount2 mounting system – warranty for quality and safety
  • Permafrost high-performance heat-conductive paste
Plus Function

WingBoost3 includes a "Plus Function". It means that a Y-switch has been fastened at the PWM-plug for a second PWM fan. The switch allows controlling another PWM fan via a PWM board signal so it does not have to be connected via a cable adaptor or a 3-pin connection. Please note: When using a WingBoost3 fan up to three other fans can be connected to just on PWM board signal.

@southernorth @orbitalwalsh @lee32uk

Thanks for the informative input gents. Im thinking to go with the shallower be quiet cooler so it matches the fans and case. Was toying with idea of the bigger 800 base for future modding but i think ill be ok with the 600 for now. Basically gone back to square one! :D
Ill be re reading this thread when it comes to the build with regards to fan positioning etc etc. First build so no doubt ill be doing a lot of googling/youtubing!!

ALSO, i have found the 11gbps Aorus card for £502.00 so looks like ill be getting that!! :D

In your experience is it worth waiting for any upcoming xmas/january sales or not? Just curious...

The case , ram an i7 is already on sale. The i7 processor might sit at that but the ram won't, they'll just go up and up

The 11gbps will also be EOL, there's a shortage of Ddr5x as you can see with Gibbo stocking up on Ti, that also has had a production cut

Any ram that's 44mm and under will fit in their fine with any orientation and with bottom fan, above that and it's mounting it a certain way or removing the bottom fan which cuts the TDP from 220 to 160 odd

Ram timings play more of a part in Intel builds then Ryzen :) which is all about speed

ok great, thanks very much. :D

So Any ram 44mm and under will fit with the Dark pro or any ram 44mm and under will fit with the Dark rock cooler? The faster RAM appeals to me more if I'm honest, speed is everything right!

Im literally ready to press the order button. :p

Just read the heatsinks can be removed on the Team group Ram anyway...

interesting, just had a quick look for the dark pro ram specs, 44mm tall or 37 without the heatsinks...

Looking at the dimensions of the cooler on BeQuiet website it says 39mm clearance under the cooler body, and 34mm when the fan is on. Of course you can move the fan up a touch depending on how much clearance you have left between the side panel.

If you look at the dimensions link near the bottom (Click on downloads) you can download it to see the cooler dimensions:

Are you going to put the AIO in the front ? If you put it in the roof you will probably have to remove the top cover as there doesn't seem to be a lot of ventilation in it (See 3rd pic in listing). You will probably want a dust filter as well if you go with the top (Roof) option as dust will get in when the pc is switched off.

If you have it in the front then you can have it as intake. Not sure what diff it makes to temps though if any.

ahh i see what you mean, seen the idea on another thread so thought i would copy. in his finished build pics it looks like he has removed the roof slightly (not something id want to do. don't think i could have it in the front either due to the front bay vr panel...this is becoming really frustrating picking a case...! :D

Suppose i could go back to your idea of shallower RAM and use the Dark pro CPU cooler instead...
