Have the money for 5090 but...

I can also afford a 5090 and am only a casual gamer.

I can't even bring myself to upgrade from my 3080, it does all i want/need it to do.

If i had to get a new GPU though, it would probably be a 4080/5080 at the most. (maybe even drop down to a **70ti)

Personally i would just buy a full new mid to high end system for the same money that a 5090 would cost. You will still have a really nice system for gaming on and you won't be throwing money down the drain. I get you have come into some money but having money don't mean you should burn it on things just because you can. If you truly think you will get some good use out of the 5090 and game more then go for it but i think my suggestion will fit better into your use case.

I can afford a 5090 just like everyone else here insists on telling people. I will be getting one. I can also afford to put food on the table and buy beer so it's great being me;). If you're a casual gamer don't buy a 5090.

I have money to burn due to inheritance
I did the same buying two Pascal Titan's for SLI and generally wasting cash on a PC system that was the fastest possible at the time. I wouldn't bother if I were you if you're only a casual gamer. Spend it on a holiday that you'll remember and invest in shares rather than the fastest depreciating electronics that you probably won't use.

no one ever regretted buying the price to performance option, but I've seen plenty regret buying the halo cards. If say anything 50-75% of the way up the stack is a safe bet. A 5090 is about four midrange upgrades...

I haven't had a new system for near a decade and have been chomping at the bit to buy since July. I only have a 34 inch 60hz monitor and only a light casual gamer. Buying the 5090 would probably do me another 10 years but should I do it?

I also often find myself asking the same question when it comes to building a new gaming PC ! Ultimately it comes down to what you plan on using the 5090 to play/do?
