Have you swapped your MSI 7950?

Yeah auto. I've since set a custom profile that limits it to 60% fans until about 75C, at which point it goes up steeply. Playing BF3 got me to 78C at between 60-65% fans with my overclock. I think If I tried to overclock to 1200/1500 (what volts are you at btw?) then my card would melt.

EDIT: Interesting note, left my pc for an hour to watch TV, when my monitors go to sleep my clocks drop to the base 300/150, and my idle temp was 33C while everything was shut down.

I got to 77'C on BF3 with fans spinning to 65-70%, so similar, though when my 3 screens hibernated it only dropped to 52'C minimum (not sure of the clocks - think 500MHz). Whatever the issue is it seems fairly consistent.

Have a look at the review, I gave theres a screenshot showing temperatures at stock and OCed. 39% fan 100% load and the max temp after benchmarking was 49c ! On that HIS iceq x2 boost 7950!
Overclocked to 1200/1500 1.1v the temps were 66c in that review on the test bench.

Gigabyte WF scheduled for tomorrow to replace the TF3. Shame, liked the card, but temps and noise had to be tamed.

Was a toss up between the WF and TF3 tbh, and the deal on the TF3 originally swung it. Now I think I'll stick with the WF and get back to gaming. Don't want to lose another week.

Yep, Im not buying the MSI since they still probably have a fair bit of faulty ones...
Gigabyte or HIS my choice. Can you unlock the voltage on gigabyte? I know you cant unlock it on 7970, but what about 7950?

I'm sending my TF3 back tomorrow morning and swapping it for the HIS Boost.

Ultimately my temps are really not what they should be and it just couldn't overclock......at all....

Heard v good things about the HIS and will be better if/when I get a second for xfire powa!

Are you talking about the x2 or the single fan card?

I swapped for the Gigabyte, and despite being longer on paper it fits without a problem. Stock temps are cool - 40'C idle and max 63'C so far playing an hour or so of BF3. Happy.

40c on idle? Isnt that a bit too high? Compared to highly overclocked 7950's idleing at 27c? But nice max temps.

Possible if you have a high room temp.

How loud is this card?

The same as all other cards - when you push it too high. If you're looking to push a card 24/7 for general gaming then you've just got to accept noise. A comfortable overclock like my own of 1100-1150 depending on the silicon quality will ensure it stays comparatively quiet.

Not tried to clock the card yet so not looked at the voltage. I figure the temps is a little high but put it down to my case fans, which I will play with. And I have three screens attached.
