Have you swapped your MSI 7950?

I hope they will take it back.
Even my friends I play borderlands 2 or bf3 say that this is not normal...I run the card at stock as well and high temps...

Yep! They also wipe your bum and tuck you in at night too! :p

Generally, just wrap the box in a bin bag and parcel tape, print the label out and stick it to the box.

:D

Did you have a look at the temps?
I think they should accept the card as faulty.

Rusty admit it you just love me posting my temps :p

Those temps aren't even that bad.

They're not great for a 7950 at stock, I saw 78 max while playing through Crysis 2 but that was overclocked to 1200 with a 1.25v core voltage and fans quite low, which all in all I'm very happy with.

So there is something wrong.
My airflow isnt bad since the last gpu got max of 59-60c oced! it was gts 250 1gb pushed to its limit.
My cpu gets max of 51c oced as well...
Theres something wrong with this card...
For the tests i actually lower the room temp and I had to sit in a jumper!...
the refrence cooling would be better than this.

Make sure you claim your postage costs back as well. I have sympathy with OcUK it's not their fault but you shouldn't have to eat the cost to return faulty items under the DSR/extended DSR

Mine was a tenner and I'm not exactly going to go hungry without that £10 but it's more a matter of principle for me. :)

I know what you mean by this, since its not our or OC fault that the item is damaged. But MSI`s I know its a quality manufacture but every manufacture once in the career will have a bad batch of their products.
Iv asked in my customer service thread if, I can send the card under the 14 day satisfaction guarrante.

I'll be interested to see how your RMA goes IC3, because your temps are similar to mine.

They're within acceptable operating limits, but seem a bit high compared to others. Since overclocking to 1100/1350 @ 1.1V, my card now idles at 60C thanks to my high-res multi-monitor setup forcing my idle clocks to 500/1350 (presumably at 1.1V). That's pretty warm for 24/7 operation, and it's a bit noisy for just sitting there idling too.

I'd be worried they'd reject my RMA on the grounds that this doesn't exceed normal operating limits (only hit 75-78 under load in BF3, and that's overclocked). If I could get a cooler running card I would most certainly do so though.

EDIT: Ah just seen you're using the 14 day guarantee. Well, I'll just sit tight then.

My mates 480 Sli dont even hit 70c (Mostly its betwe 65-66 very rare to see 70c), well only under very heavy load and after playing for longer period of time.
The stock card should hit a max of 60c or even less...
I`m currently waiting for a reply from OCUK if I can return it under 14 day guarrante, than it would be 99% chance of a refund. I should think...

I got a answer, they changed my RMA to the 14 day satisfaction guarrante.
i will try to send it today or tommorrow the latest.
Now Im thinking which to pick out of these.

was considering getting the MSI 7950 but I am a bit put off by this heat issue....anyone had a bad one in the latest batch?

Orderd mine on the 8th, 12 days ago. Apparently it was the new batch...
Go for HIS 2 fan or Gigaybte wf3.
If you dont mind sending it back and waiting another couple days than go for it.
But if you want to buy a card and play games without worrying than go for gigabyte or his...

will wait a few weeks see how it goes...don't want HIS or Gigabyte TBH ugly blue PCB's from the stock photos

Gigabyte and HIS are one of the best coolers out there.
MSI as well but they mack up this model...
People who bought this card in August are fine with their temps.
25-28 idle and 54c load. Have a look in pages 2-3 people posted their temps on here.
For me the pcb doesnt count since my PC has to be silent and performing.
Dont care about the look as much. I look on the monitor and not in my case when I play. Dont know about you :p

Yeah you can use GPUZ or MSI Afterburner.

On a separate note guys I messaged 5UB about these cards and what is the process for cards which are obviously broken but not THAT broken (e.g. running at 75c instead of 60-65c) and he said they are discussing it and will let you all know.

I also asked him to chase the MSI rep for a response :).

Thanks for info, but still Im just prepeared the card for sending all packed up.
It is a shame, I really wanted to try MSI and I got a faulty one but this is not going to put me off in future! Love the design ;]

Now gigabyte or HIS will be next just have to think which one...hmm?

Just the single monitor attached atm. The GPU core clock is showing 880mhz, gpu temp now 56C and GPU load 57%.

I am only running Civ V atm so I doubt that it is going to stress the card too much! Should I run something like Crysis and see how it is after 20/30mins on that?

Download http://unigine.com/products/heaven/ and EVGA precision X or MSI after burner and have a look at the temps while benchmarking.
Or run furmark

My card was delivered a week ago and I build my PC yesterday so haven't had time to do much testing but the card idles at 32°C and after an hour of Heaven, maxed at 62°C. So not all are bad in the latest batch.

You got a non-damaged card than! ;)
