Have you swapped your MSI 7950?

Have a look at the review, I gave theres a screenshot showing temperatures at stock and OCed. 39% fan 100% load and the max temp after benchmarking was 49c ! On that HIS iceq x2 boost 7950!
Overclocked to 1200/1500 1.1v the temps were 66c in that review on the test bench.

Yep, Im not buying the MSI since they still probably have a fair bit of faulty ones...
Gigabyte or HIS my choice. Can you unlock the voltage on gigabyte? I know you cant unlock it on 7970, but what about 7950?

40c on idle? Isnt that a bit too high? Compared to highly overclocked 7950's idleing at 27c? But nice max temps.

Possible if you have a high room temp.

How loud is this card?

Yep, thats why I am not so worried about it. I love the irony thats the MSI box states it is 17'C cooler, but in my system it was 17'C hotter (as idle). Perhaps they meant the competition was 17'C cooler . . .

cj

Haha, probably :p
Did nvidia`s driver gave a boost? Did 660Ti cought up with 7950?

Urgh only just saw this thread. Ordered one of these for my brother yesterday on the weekend deal, really hope it is without fault.

Can he get 1440p through the DVI connection or will he need to use HDMI or DP? Description on OCUK says DVI-I  but on MSI website it says Dual-link DVI (is this DVI-D), which is correct?

Fingers crossed!

It becomes noticeable at 60% fans, and it gets noisy at 65% and up. Mine sits around 65-68% and 77C in games with a 1100/1350 1.1V overclock. :(

I'm not particularly happy with it either tbh, but I don't want to RMA in case it gets rejected. Then I will have paid £25 to have a week off from using my PC. No one will tell me what they regard as faulty/working or their testing methodology so I can't test it myself before sending it off. I'm just stuck with a card that is a bit noisier and hotter than I was expecting.

You're within the 14 day DSR so if he isn't happy with it send it back.

That`s what I did.
I would try with you card, ask OCUK if it is possible.

Are these supposed to be quiet? How loud is RMA loud?

Is any of this true:

Yep, but as Devrij temps and fan noise its like a refrence cooling.
So on my logic theres something wrong with that card. Thats why I said to him to try RMA it, if you still have your 14 days satisfaction than return it under that.

:O the x2 is gone? That didnt last long then...Kinda liked that card imo:D

Id go for the WF if it was me...but that was £239 a couple days ago now its gone up...

I know ;[
Ill wait its christmas coming along so great discounts coming as well! :D

Post in the customer service section, ask for Bailey and or 5UB, they sorted me out with the X2s. I took the cards in for a straight swap and had a chat with Bailey while they swapped them over in the warehouse.

Was a very pain-free experience. :D

Why did you swap your x2s?

Getting my HIS IceQ Boost this afternoon.

Will install and test with Heaven & Bf3 etc and report on temps, noise and overclocks.

Yep, make sure to do that!
I have to buy a card as well but not sure what to pick...

Not sure which MSI 7950 this threads aimed at,

but i just got my vapour X 7950 3 days ago, and it's the best card iv ever had.

It idles at 25-30c load at 50-55c, (cooler than me processor! first graphics card iv ever had thats cooler than a cpu)

and its clocked +20 power, and full 1100/1575 stable,

and the fans 100% silent, can't hear a thing even when gaming. im absolutely ded chuffed with this card.

Any screenshots to prove?
