Hayfever - Thread

Yeah it got worse last few days think its due to the heat waves again and humidity, good to hear Acrivastine is working asap I knew it would boots still got the offer but as shown above best to get it from the docs much cheaper and bigger volume, boots is just the lazy expensive option!

I may try priton for days in-between since its cheaper, but yeah I looked as bad as ace till I found Acrivastine worked while cetrizine/lotradine did nothing much. I too take Acrivastine few hours before bed since it tends to last 6-8 hours that way the morning I still feel good its just a shame the tablet does not last 12 or 24 hours but I can usually get by with 1-2 I still use the nasal sprays for 1 quid from tesco or asda (nasal decongenstant) which are live savers can breath nicely, I can tell when the levels get low like some street fighter game character !

It's hard to tell as pollen levels are so variable during the year, but so far telfast has been amazing, assuming it's that and not type/quantity of pollen.

Anyone ever tried Mizolastine?

Dont think I saw it mentioned but thought it worth adding to the list.

I had the desensitising injections when i was a kid. It was 12 weeks with 1 injection a week and it never really seemed ho help in the long run.

Currently on fexofenadine but I am wondering if it is making me drowsy. Going to try next week with just a nasal spray and see if anything changes.

For the folks using Benadryl and paying for it, Tesco have the packs of 12 on offer at £3 each but if you pick up their in store magazine there is a voucher on page 2 for 75p off all hayfever remedies of £3 and over. I used several of these vouchers (ripped them out of the magazines while in the store :D) and stocked up on packs at £2.25 each or 18p a tablet which is the cheapest I have managed to buy at.

I haven't had any local honey for about 2 weeks now. I get a slight sniffle now and again, but not enough to warrant taking honey.

I'd sooner let my body build up it's defense than use remedies, natural or not.

A bit of an extreme remedy, but since moving to Australia 9 years ago, i havent suffered from hayfever at all! I went to see family in NZ a couple of years back and the hayfever was back within a day or two.
It must be the type of pollen i guess. Im not sure if there is a test to see exactly what kind of pollen causes hayfever in different people.

anyone's hayfever started yet ?

I'm not sure atm - whether have cold or hayfever - I'm siding with the latter as I'm getting my normal hayfever symptoms - just seems very early

itchy eyes, itchy back of throat, itchy inner ear, sneezing

I don't tend to get those symptoms with a cold, except for the itchy eyes which I can get if I am very very congested

Yep, gave up and got some tablets today. Been really bad last ~3days.

Not sure if I should try ferfexodine again, only tried it at the very end of last season. But it's relatively expensive.

oh - I thought it was me going mad - thanks Glaucus !

I did think of taking my hayfever tablets to see if it dulled the symptoms, but I kept thinking - its February !!

Trees start early.

Nothing abnormal for it starting this early, it can last pretty much all year depending what your allergic to.
