Hayfever - Thread

Starting with the antihistamines myself - Tree pollen is a killer! I normally have to start at the beginning of Feb, so I'm doing better this year
I work as a gardener and the other day I was just walking along emptying the barrow and thought it was a bit misty, thought my eyes were going:D. Didn't think anything of it, then later I thought something was on fire as this smoke was coming from somewhere, again nothing was there. Then on the next trip to compost heap the yew trees just exploded with a massive pollen bomb Was pretty spectacular really.
I never got hayfever for 40 years, then got it for 3 years for just a few months, June to August, and now last two years nothing again so no idea why I had 3 years of it.
Hopefully it holds off again because working as a gardener and having hayfever isn't much fun.

Been taking Allevia again since early March, bit of a pain working around the take an hour before food or two hours afterwards, recently trying taking it at bedtime as I often wake late morning as it is since long covid.

It seems to reduce or stop the sneezing and runny nose, but my eyes are driving me nuts... Sensation as if I'm surrounded by nasty fumes, rather than being itchy. Stops for a while after splashing some water on my face, but soon returns.
Wondering if I have another allergy going on, because this eye thing rarely happens outside of our flat.

The overgrown willow tree in back garden was cut down last summer, landlord still needs to take away loads of it, but really hoped my hayfever would be drastically reduced this year. No such luck.

Maybe this year and last were particularly bad for hayfever pollen, but I still wonder if raised histamine levels from long covid are reducing the effectiveness of hayfever meds for me, as hayfever makes the body produce histamines.

Anyones Hayfever really bad at the moment? I usually don't suffer much but this time.. Meh

There's no sun, but the wind is strong so might be blowing a lot more pollen about :(

Mine has just started the last week, back on Allevia as it's the only one that seems to work for me now, at least it lasts all day.

I've held off the anti-histamines until I start actually feeling it this year, I've been going OTT in previous years and want to work out exactly what/when/why/how my hayfever is presenting nowadays so thought that was best. Had a sneeze or two the last couple of weeks but nothing that couldn't just be photic sneeze effect/general dust stuff. Today though, I've had itchy eyes for the first time, wooooo here we go babyyyyy.

Those Vizulize drops do seem to be helping me, on my second bottle now since my post a few up from this.
https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/312102593 (no idea if it's cheapest place, I just add it for simplicity to our food delivery order).

Still very unsure if Allevia is helping above and beyond the cheap Allacan tablets I was taking a few years ago. Having to take Allevia an hour before food or two hours after is a pain, especially while my sleep pattern is still bad, for example I surfaced at midday today after getting up at 0920 yesterday to do my first intense cycling in over two months. When I'm too hungry to wait an hour so don't bother taking Allevia, my nose runs and I sneeze a bit more, but then I can quite often have the odd sneeze a few hours after taking the tablet and my nose will run a bit when cycling outside.

Once it starts theres no stopping it antihistamines will quieten it down until it flares up again usually after another heavy dose of pollen for me its grass everything else is fine but once the grass starts getting "stalky" I have to wear a facemask cutting grass or suffer the consequences if have any cuts grazes or scratches those areas flare up like a rash

Mine hasn’t kicked in yet but I’m usually fine till later into summer. Stocked up today on my nasal sprays, powder and eye drops though so I’m prepared for when I start to stream and want to scratch my eyes out.
