Haze Demo out!!

Had high hopes for this especially from Free Radical, but thankfully the demo has saved me 40 quid :)

Maybe it's because I watched a few of the Killzone 2 vids before playing Haze, but oh dear....

Maybe the storyline will carry it...

perhaps - my view is that fps games have to have a massive in depth multiplayer in order for me to bother

so many online multiplayers have a big long winded rank system - you can only do so many - so its gonna have to work hard to get us all of cod4 and r6v2

As much as I love the darkness, I still feel Chronicles of Riddick is slightly the stronger game.

Hopefully that'll be out this year, although I'm not holding my breah, I've not heard anything about it for a while now.

Anyway with regards to the Haze demo, ummmm, it's a hard one for me, I neither hated or loved, it did feel a little 'generic', but then I've thought that of many game demo's, there have been very few that I've been really impressed with, frame rate seems to stay at a consistent 30fps, there were a few occasional dips but nothing of any great significance, There is a part of me that feels although this game is far from AAA material I do feel that the final game will be allot better than the impressions we are getting from the demo,

so far I like how they characterise the Mantel Soldiers with this gun hoe, nothing to fear type mentality, the lines that the soldiers come out with are very cliché but I feel it suits their characters and it's obvious its how the developers wanted them to be portrayed, but behind one of those soldiers is you, or rather us, the player who has his own morals and ethics, I felt even in that small demo that what I was doing was wrong, I didn't like their attitudes or their over confidence, but I had to work with them as part of a team, in a way though I thought this was kinda cool because I feel this was setting the scene for **SPOILER when you switch sides and you actually fight against the Mantel soldiers /SPOILER**, I think thats when the game will become allot more interesting.

Also, does anyone know if the demo supports rumble?

Yes it does...

I found the graphics to be quite poor, it reminds me of some older console FPS games that got ported to PC like Pariah, it just didn't have the wow factor from the graphics which it would need to pull it away from the generic FPS feel.

I am yet to try Co-op which might be fun enough to make buy it though.

Haze demo resolution only 1024x576

Some tech experts have found out that the demo for Haze is only running at a locked 30fps and 1024x576 with no anti aliasing.

What on earth, that's just poor it's not as if the game even looks very good I don't see why they'd have to sacrifice resolution.

What have they done? They made a **** poor job of it.It doesn't even support Dual Shock 3. Well, I cancelled my preorder for this game.:(

That's one 'big' PS3 game down the drain. It was a terrible and highly disappointing demo.

Ha, as if. It's definitely got some form of anti-aliasing, otherwise it would be a jaggy mess - which it isnt'. It's obviously a lower resolution than normal, but the no anti-aliasing claim is totally untrue. I am aware it was Quasz who came up with this (he's not 'some tech experts' btw, just one guy doing it for a hobby who is usually right in many cases but was wrong on this one and GTA4 to begin with) but he must be blind or doing it very very wrong. I know what 1024x576 looks like, and it ain't Haze. I can even see the extra sampling blur with my very own eyes.

I'm still waiting for something on the PC to match The Darkness in recent years.

I didn't feel darkness was anything special.

All console FPS have the same feel, which probably due to the controller.

theres plenty on the pc to match the darkness, that is a ridiculous statement.

Gotta love the PS3 release cycle:

1. Show CGI trailer at some random show (E3 etc), call it 'in game footage'. All the mindless drones will believe you.
2. Actually start work on the game
3. Deny delay rumours.
4. Delay. Say there will be no further delays. Put a spin on it to sound cool (we're delaying as bluray is so awesome we're trying to fill the whole disc!)
5. Delay again.
6. Release game that looks nothing like what you showed a couple of years back, with poor gameplay and outdated graphics. Rush the last few months of development and make huge sacrifices to get it to run well (lower than 720p res, broken gameplay, missing features 'to be patched'). Use a bit of your original CGI as the intro movie.

Doesn't that apply to ALL games these days? :(
