Haze Demo out!!

Gotta love the PS3 release cycle:

1. Show CGI trailer at some random show (E3 etc), call it 'in game footage'. All the mindless drones will believe you.
2. Actually start work on the game
3. Deny delay rumours.
4. Delay. Say there will be no further delays. Put a spin on it to sound cool (we're delaying as bluray is so awesome we're trying to fill the whole disc!)
5. Delay again.
6. Release game that looks nothing like what you showed a couple of years back, with poor gameplay and outdated graphics. Rush the last few months of development and make huge sacrifices to get it to run well (lower than 720p res, broken gameplay, missing features 'to be patched'). Use a bit of your original CGI as the intro movie.

What are you talking about? I don't recall there ever being a CGI trailer for Haze that was claimed to be ingame footage??

I think your getting your games mixed up, Killzone was the game that they claimed was 'ingame footage' when it wasn't and I think we can safely agree that although it wasn't when we saw the ingame footage it was pretty damm close to the original CGI trailer...

Am i the only one that thought it had potential?

While that level was average as hell, i saw glimmers of hope hidden away. The graphics have their moments, the AI is above average, the aiming feels solid and the auto-aim isn't over the top as many games seem to be these days. The only thing that was really lacking was a variety of weapons and interesting objectives etc, those are things that COULD (i stress could) actually exist in the game, just not so early on.

What really interested me is the moment where there was a nectar error or something along those lines, where for a split second you could hear the screaming of the battlefield (which sounded quite disturbing), something that nectar had cut out of your perception. This is in an early level, if they continue to use the effect of flashing between reality and the doped up nectar world to greater extents as you progress it could become quite a cool idea imo.

With some of the negatives I don't know whether to download it, I might just buy it and decide from there. I'd be surprised if I didn't.

It's worth downloading, other sites have a very marmite attitude towards the game, some love it, some hate it. You might be in the group that really likes it.

Actually, I recall a video of this game over a year ago, that plainly looks a lot better than this demo........got to assume it was a CGI pre-render, but will dig it up just to check.

OH I'm sure there is a video but was it touted as ingame?

If it was well then fair do's but I've only ever heared about E3 '05 Killzone trailer that Sony claimed it was ingame when clearly it wasn't.

ok i just played it. it is pretty run of the mill, isnt it? i dont like the fact that you almost end up relying on the nectar and snipping all the time and graphically it's all a bit flat. actually it does feel a lot like resistance. from that demo its not really anything special unfortunately.

There was a trailer at/around one of the E3's, possibly last year, which was claimed as 'in-game' - they then later said it was using game assets but was pre-rendered, i.e. an in-game cutscene.
