Head of E.A Origin says "Steam sales are bad" & wants Origin to be the hub for gamers

He says that but EA would kill to be as popular and well liked as valve are.

and valve would kill to have the revenue of EA
Looking forward to fiscal 2013, EA expects an approximate net revenue of $4.07 billion
in 2010 valve were estimated to be in the hundreds of millions, maybe tops now they are 1-2bil.

What is relevant is that E.A have many shareholders to feed, unlike Valve.

EA Fails again.

Honestly, Steam is miles boyond Origin in how good it is. Also Origin is taking up 155MB of RAM compared to Steam's 20MB on my system atm. Not massive in the grand scale of things by any means (Not much of 12GB total RAM in my system), but still more than Steam.

Steam all the way, but I admit there's no harm in a little competition from Origin or others...

The difference is that Valve is using a long-term method of revenue security, EA however, i think you realise just like most ruthless corporations nowadays, uses the ever popular short-term, kick everyone in the face method for revenue.

It may give them more money, but their respect is frankly zero and I really dont see a long future for them, if they continue to chew up developers and kill franchises like they are doing currently.

Valve are a private company and probably make a bigger percentage as profit.

There's something really creepy about DrMartini's expression.
Its like he knows hes telling a lie and is trying to hide it.

Up with Steam!

Down with EA!

He looks like the kind of guy that welcomes and colludes with our new alien overlords

Wanna know a good way of telling how bad E.A are? Since the undeserved success of Call of Duty, they have tried to emulate the same results with two franchises; Medal of Honor & Battlefield. While Battlefield 3 is currently the best multiplayer FPS available, that is an unimpressive title in such a pathetic genre.

Following the success of Skyrim, I don't want to think about what EA are going to try and make to match that genre too. I'm sure it'll be a good laugh watch them try though! Oh wait didn't they get involved with 38 Studios who were making a very good game (Kingdom's of Amalur) and didn't they put one of their guys in charge? Yeah, and what happened? The company went bust, tons of people lost their jobs who had families mortgages etc. and the whole division is being investigated by the F.B.I, possible tax evasion.

Need more be told? No.

EA are not only the least value for money, they are also one of the biggest money grabbers in the business and also produce the worst games.

I will never touch Mass Effect or Dragon Age again, neither will I touch Command & Conquer, and I have never touched one of their horrible sports games neither.

I don't think there is even a game I own with any link to EA whatsoever.

Only one thing to say to them, cao ni zu zong shi ba dai!

! EDIT: Oh man! EA's title Darkspore is the deal of the day on Steam reduced from £14.99 to £3.74! Hahahaha, that is ironic!

! EDIT 2: Wow! All of the Spore titles are hugely reduced in price! Spore has been reduced from £29.99 to £7.49 & Galactic Adventures has been reduced from £14.99 to £3.74 just like Darkspore. Wow maybe this is Valve's way of teaching EA a lesson in manners! :p

I've found that if you leave it running too long it starts to eat into CPU cycles as well. What the hell it could possibly be doing to consume 90% of the processor availability when minimized is beyond me.

With regards to the deep discounting Steam do, yeah it probably is a bad thing in a way as it does encourage those of us who are on the fence about a game to wait. I know I've certainly done it. It obviously works though, I seem to recall one of the sales resulting in massive increases in profit, not just sales.

I do think that EA are possibly looking at a scenario too far in the other direction and frankly it would have to be an amazing deal to encourage me to use them anyway.

and we have a winner!

EA's overheads are massive, to be honest its on a scale, most, if not all of us cannot understand.

How much of thier revenue turn's into profit?, That would be anyone's guess but its not 100%, so they can throw around how much revenue they have all day long but profit is a total diffrent ball game.
