For starters, no program should be forced to be installed to play a game. If people want to install Steam or Origin, or GFWL, or Ubisoft Play thingy, then that's their choice.
Companies should be fined heavily for it.
Go to the dayZ thread and theres people wanting the game but do not wanna pay £20 for it which to be honest aint that much for a game. But people saying they want to till the sales in return the developer is bow losing out.
Does Origin provide games from indie developers? (Not a rhetorical question), I'm assuming no however..
Q: How is your program going to provide free distribution for indies?
David DeMartini: We've had a ton of phone calls, because anybody who's looking to be crowd-funded has called and said "This seems to good to be true!" And we say it's too good to be true, but it is true. If you have a successfully crowd-funded venture, the first 90 days of sales on Origin is free of any fee for Electronic Arts. This was the first thing Origin did that no one could complain about. The hardcore loves crowd-funding, and that hardcore has been a little tough on Origin the last twelve months, so we figured this is something we could do that is going to please the hardcore; it's going to please the independent development community, and it just seemed like a great idea all the way around.
the answer to that isnt importain but the question is.Q: One of the problems with Steam for independent developers has been the uncertainty of whether or not Steam would distribute your title once it's done, because you have to go through an approval process.
no silly approval process for crowd funded games (kickstarters)Q: At least if they've gone through that crowd-funding filter they have convinced thousands of people that it's a good thing.
David DeMartini: If it's finished, if it's credible, if it's testable, we're going to post it.
if you read the interview you would know the answer but like nearly every basher in this thread that obviously took the headline and didnt read the article....

We love VALVE!![]()
So someone who has yet to purchase the game nearly three years after release is saying "Too expensive", where is the lost sale?
Truth be told, they have no intention of buying the game at anything less than 10p anyway.
Yet you all bitch and moan but apart from raven why you still buy EA games?
So no megasales that can/will attract attention to new indie developers, and no approval process that ensures what you buy is any good.
So Origin is going to be better by selling worse games, at a higher price. Awesome idea.
ea havew had sales on origin i remember a lot of 50% off sales, i think there were one or two 75% off ones aswell
