***HEADS UP: MSI GTX 580 OC @ £399 Until Midday Monday!!***

How you guys getting on with the card?

mine seems stable wiv the stock voltage ,ive been playing bbc2 all night no issues

I think the MSI rep should give us all copies of 3dMARK 11 for our troubles
what do you think ? :)

mine was fine for gaming but running a few things to test like metro 2033 test, sf4/crysis/ and some other progs etc would throw up problems after a while. even my stock zotac card had higher voltage.

and yeah i noticed the lower end msi cards have 3dmark we should get one as well:)

I been playing around with the clocks today on my MSI GTX 580 OC cards :)

Nice score chaparral, do you think you can hit 12k with the 2600k oc'd more? If so post the link, ta!

I was looking for multiple monitors in your sig; just wondering why you decided to get two 580GTX to run on a single 24" unless your heavily into benching/folding ?

May try for 12k tomorrow ;) (But don't think i will get it :()

Main reason i went for two GTX 580's was that i always had an SLI setup for many years
and going for only one 580 card wouldn't really give me that much of an upgrade over what i had before

I gone

SLI 7800GTX
SLI 8800GTX
SLI GTX 275
Now SLI GTX 580

all gone down hill today !!
my card started to crash with like green dash's right across screen
was advised to up the voltage to 1.050v but to no avail
been advised now to either run @stock speeds
or RMA
now if i RMA back to ocuk will they be able to supply same card? or have they stopped selling them as theres none on the site
if i cant get same card i will be out of pocket
could i say chose another make and pay the difference

Ocuk pulled the MSI 580GTX a week after it launched from what I remember. I don't know how long you've had the 580GTX for neallnufc, it may be looking doubtful if you were using it fine after 7 days of use and was simply down to overclocking and it becoming unstable - something the OC version would've handled a bit better. If you were just trying to achieve the OC stock clocks then you have a valid point to RMA it. As long as you followed MSIs instructions to the letter you have nothing to worry about.

Is there any reason why it started to crash and not work anymore?

See how you get on with contacting Ocuk to get it RMA. Your looking more at contacting MSI directly on their website to get a replacement as your covered with their warranty to get it repaired or exchanged.

all i wanted was what i paid for nothing more
i thought i was stable until today played a few different games and just started to crash out
temps seem fine tho so i,m thinking somthing is wrong with the card
as for dealing direct with msi ..id rather deal with ocuk as i,d prefer a diferent card as confidence aint running high with MSI

Sounds like your fed up with mucking about getting the performance you'd thought was on offer.

As you have a 30" Dell and a very good setup, I'd go for 580GTX SLI as a single 580GTX is going to struggle a little bit at 2560x1600. Will save on pushing your GPU to the limits if your willing to spend a fair chunk of your hard earned cash.
If you can exchange the MSI with Ocuk, go for EVGA or Asus and let Ocuk know you you'd pay for the extra GPU if that's your choice. I would've said go for the EVGA GeForce GTX 580 Black OPS but thats not in stock. EVGAs have 2 year warranty and extended to 10 years once registered. Doubt anyone will have a GPU that long to worry - eases your mind with that investment.

It might be worth trying 1.075V. I had exactly the same problems at 1.050 and 1.063 - green artefacts would appear after time and the system would crash. It would last longer at 1.063 but would still occur. I have now been running with 1.075V for about 5 days with no problems. The only other thing I have done is turn on the custom fan control in Afterburner to keep the temperatures down in the 70s instead of the 80s.

Note that I think maybe some people are getting away with lower voltages because they are not pushing the card as much - probably because they are running at a lower resolution - this is a guess though. I am running at 1080p - and I think you are running at a higher res. If the resolution was only 1280x800 for example the card would not have to do so much work. That's my theory anyway...

MSI, can we please have a decision.

MSI management and representatives (ScottiB),

I purchased an MSI GTX580 O.C. from Overclockers UK on the 17th of January. The card was one of a batch of non-overclocked cards incorrectly packaged as overclocked cards. I am not experienced in overclockong cards hence the reason I wished to purchase a manufacturer preclocked card.

I have no wish to attempt to 'flash' my card, nor do I feel that I should have to, so can someone with sufficient authority please arrange for a courier to come to my house, deliver an overclocked card and take away my non-overclocked card. This is what has happened previously when I have had dealings with reputable companies. I was gracious enough to accept that things can and do go wrong sometimes, and wait patiently for MSI management to call a meeting, run through some options and costs, and inform me of what action was going to be taken. But it is now the 2nd of February and I am still none the wiser.

Why is it taking so long for action to be taken? It is not as though MSI are a small, inexperienced company with clowns for management. MSI are a long established, big player in the computer industry and will have recruited management with the necessary experience of how to take appropriate remedial action when events like this occur. Is it not the case that MSI have business insurance to cater for when incorrect processes have been carried out? So why isn't the cost of courier exchanging being claimed on this insurance, it can only take a couple of days to cost this and arrange it - I mean, some wars are over in less time. And it's not as though every card would need exchanged, I'm sure the vast majority of people who received this incorrect card are sufficiently computer-savvy to be able to 'flash' to the correct setting, so the courier costs wouldn't necessarily be that great.

MSI, please communicate with me, email me if you wish, this is your mistake, not mine, and I would like to see your customer service department finally swing into action so that I can see a correctly overclocked MSI GTX580 O.C. in my hand, at which point I'll be glad to come on here and praise you for good service.

Kind regards

Flyer01

Hello,

I apologise but the delay is down to the complete lack of replacement stock. We cannot exchange a non-flashed card for a flashed card without flashed stock on hand and due to the factory error there are no flashed "OC" cards available.

I'd happily arrange to collect the card, flash and test it myself before returning it to you if that would be acceptable?

Please message me via trust.

Alas some of us have already forked out for 3d Mark to test the stability of our newly flashed cards. I bought 11 but in retrospect Vantage would probably have been a better choice for stability testing.

An option for a licence for either would be a decent gesture to reassure owners. Most manufacturers of repute already offer high end cards with 3d Mark anyway.

I'm having real problems flashing this card. I've followed all the instructions given but when I select the USB as the boot device it just boots straight into Windows. I've tried umpteen time. Seriously considering RMAing it...

Look guys this isn't happening for me. It's just not working. I've follow the instructions to a T and I've been at it since 11am. I can't get the boot key way to work I just end up in Windows again. I want this card RMA'd...
