***HEADS UP: MSI GTX 580 OC @ £399 Until Midday Monday!!***

As an outsider, I have to say this looks like a poor show (whether it's OcUK/MSI/The Pope/Whoever's fault). Feel a bit guilty that I posted this on HUKD at the time!

Isn't that defeating the whole point of buying a pre-overclocked card!?

I agree it does seem to be defeating the whole point but the only alternative is to RMA the card and get a refund then buy a real over clocked one for about £100 more - which I do not really want to spend at the moment.

Currently using the tweaked bios is my best solution.

well its not too diff from flashing a a new bios on a mobo. there have been a few mobos that have been flaky when released and new bios fixed the issue. if most of us are comfortable doing that then why not gfx bios? not ideal but not end of the world either

A quick update. I was getting temperatures of about 86C when stressing the card with the voltage at 1.075. I have now enabled the 'user defined' fan settings in Afterburner with its default graph. With this enabled the maximum temperature is about 73C. I have been running these settings for a while now and everything seems stable (note that it was stable at 86C but I thought it was a touch too hot). Afterburner also remembers the fan settings on restart if 'Start with Windows' is ticked in the settings.

So I guess I am now happy enough now with my tweaked overclocked bios and using software to control the fan. It would be nice to alter the fan settings in the bios but I think I will leave that for the moment.

Couldn't agree more. Really poor show this all round to be honest. Customers shouldn't be having to flash their cards and try to get them stable. These cards should be RMA'd by OcUK at their expense and MSI should be providing the pre-overclocked cards as replacements. Customers of such a high end card must expect better service than this. The pre-overclocked cards are likely to have been cherry picked to be able to reach higher clock speeds with lower voltage and therefore run cooler. Also giving them more overclocking headroom compared to the reference default cards. Customer services really is questionable from all parties!

hi guys,

apologies from MSI and mostly from myself for the delay, I am trying to deal with this but I had a nightmare weekend personally so I haven't been able to get to the office to sort this out yet. :( (i'm stuck 160 miles away at the moment)

over the last couple of days I have received various files from HQ including a BIOS, flash softwre and i think a diagnostic program too, once I have checked them over and got them hosted i'll post them up.

I cant speak for OcUK at the moment but we want to get this sorted out for you guys asap. Please bear with us a little longer, all being well i'll have everything finalised by Wednesday.

Again, sorry about the delay but we want to get this right.

Please note, for those of you who don't want to flash the cards yourselves we will try to put a couple of options in place.
