I'm the other way around - just getting back into squad. HLL is a bit quicker to start and not as complex and in depth as Squad. You'll get more kills in HLL than you will squad. Once you've attuned yourself to 'seeing' the enemy you'll be fine. Again, having a decent SL that puts down spawn points regularly so you don't have to run so far is key to a better game.

Only map when I started that really does your head in is the Omaha one, if you are on the beach attacking - it's a grind.

Going back to squad recently, I find HLL a more forgiving game and not as hard as Squad, and the tin helmet 'ting' for a headshot is addictive, unless you're the receiver. As you say, more complex games do require a 'mood' to play them. Less bullet drop physics in HLL, almost none, nothing as realistic as squad ballistics physics.

Dunno why video fella was moaning about cant play sniper, M1 Garand is an awesome weapon for knocking people down, even with iron sights.
 
I still cant get my head around the audio in this. Am i the only one that thinks the directional audio is pretty lacklustre ? Also it just doesnt have the punch needed i feel.

Jumped back in again this week and have had some really good games on Dutch Let Loose servers!

Always looking for more squad mates, I don't mind playing SL or any other role :)
 
Yeah usually play it for a round or two every now and again. Seems to be nicely in the middle between squad and battlefield for me (Dont play either).
Now that the devs have been sacked from Post scriptum (Allegedely) i dont see much hope for it.
 
Good day. So, I am tempted to buy this, fairly cheap on CDkeys, as I have that WW2 itch that has been soothed by playing MOH Airbourne on Xbox game pass for PC. (damn thats a hard game). So is HLL an active game, is it welcoming to new players, like no crappy toxic grieving/chat/noob insults etc. I have headset and mic but I need to find it so is just following orders and using typing in chat ok. Any OCUK squads set up?

I really fancy a tactical, slow paced not a run and gun game and this seems to fit that bill.
 
I'm planning to join some friends on this tonight for my first few games - so far they've described it to me as "PTSD but fun" :D

@Droolinggimp - this was on Humble choice a few months ago so might be worth posting up a wanted thread (I'm assuming you have access from your post count), could save a few pennies :)

From your description HLL sounds like the perfect antidote!

It's not fast paced run and fun at all, and in most games you'll be able to find at least one squad that has a squad leader with a microphone that will be more than willing to show you the ropes if you say you're new to the game and willing to learn :)

I'll next be on on Sunday evening, if you and @TrojanWhore wanted to set a time i'm more than happy to play squad leader!

Thanks, will let you know if I'm free for a game Sunday, got some troubleshooting to do over the weekend! I have a mic so all good on that front

Ill see if the wife will let me part with the cash and if so, I'll get it in a bit. Does the game let you create a soldier with a new name or does it take it from Steam?

Pretty sure i'll be free Sunday evening, I'll try to persuade the wife to let me get it.

Downloading now. :D let it do its thing and I can go pick kids up from school, might try it out whilst they have their tea later.
