Hell Let Loose...Company Of Hero's, meets FPS

Whats the discord? The one I am a member off has had a big influx of members since I joined and to be fair, even though many are great to play with it seems to be somewhat, dunno, its starting to not feel right. The lad whos running it all is ex army and although he has it well organised, he seems to be starting to be too, authoritarian over things. I don't want to tarnish that discord as its pretty good and grown so fast, maybe thats the reason its not feeling right with me now.

Edit: I ran a WoW guild many years ago and have a good idea on how these things work and the troubles you get sometimes when too many players have joined, so if you haven't got any help setting up a HLL community I may be able to offer some help for you. I have a good idea on how to set up a HLL division and general organisation.

Yeah I know exactly what you mean, i've joined a few HLL discords and when they're so obsessed with being military based it becomes tiresome, I just want somewhere where there's players who want to play for fun but communicate.

Won't be any military ranks or roles in this community, just a place where people can gather to play the game.

Thanks for the offer of help! Hopefully things pick up and i'll need some help running things so i'll let you know if I need any help :)

I think it is the fact that it too Military orientated, the way it is set up, thats is ringing not right with me. I have no issue with communities doing that but its just too much. Having to rely on others from your squad to be playing at the same time etc. How you are going to do it sounds better, no hierarchy. Are you setting up individual VCs for squads and having a dedicated VC for recruitment so you can have a chat to new members?

Edit: never mind, I have just seen what you have done in the discord lol

For now i'm keeping it simple, hopefully the server gets busier and i'll pop some more structure in there but want to keep it simple and not be too intimidating for newcomers for now :)

no strangers on Ocuk dude. Always room for people who want to come out of their shell. I was like that a few years back. I am sure you will be welcomed with open arms.,

Room for everyone buddy!

If all your comfortable with is a “roger that” or “cool” then that’s 100% better than 90% of the people on public servers! Feel free to join up, my usual lot are quite a loud and rowdy lot when we’re together, but join the discord and we could have some more chill sessions with just the two of us and I can show you the ropes if you’d like? :)

As I say, hoping to get enough members on there to be able to seed a server regularly.

A server is only around £40pm, so I don’t mind renting one if we can get it running and full up :)

I used to run CS and Left4Dead Servers. I'm waiting to get 300/300 FTTH broadband installed (a few months). If we can host our own servers we could do it for free. My server runs 24/7 anyway.

Sadly the Hell Let Loose devs have never released the server files so you have to rent them from one of three providers!

Don’t mind doing it, but want to get some people ready to seed it :)

Will probably rent the server sometime in March :)

I dip in and out of this a few times a year. I usually end up putting it down because it can be a struggle to get into any of the decent servers, and when you do it's their clan members running locked squads.

It would be good to have a regular group to get together with and have a few games. I have a mic and am happy to do call outs, discuss tactics and just generally have a bit of banter.

I'm reasonable at the game but play just for fun. I'm not into using all the military lingo, etc., but I'm more than happy to follow orders.

I'm currently enjoying armour and seem to be pretty decent as a tank gunner. Infantry I usually just play what's needed so I'm happy to go support, etc. I'd like to try out recon and squad leading at some point as neither are things I've done yet.

I'll keep an eye on the Discord. Is the plan to schedule in certain nights and times or just get together as and when?

Well currently I don't even manage that :cry:. That sounds like a good idea, I'll generally play on a regular basis, so feel free to hit me up on Discord if you see me in-game. Having kids, I can't commit to a specific date or time as things change on the daily.

I’m usually on most evenings but like you say, sometimes life gets in the way :p

I’ll be on the discord tomorrow evening I expect!

Once we get to 30+ discord members I’ll look at the server :D
 
I want to love this game but far too many games turn into

- Everyone tries to take the next capture point
- Enemy pushes and easily takes our base whilst everyone else is pushing
- We have to run back for miles to get back to the new point to defend

Literally every single game lol

Why not just defend a point when you capture i hear you ask ? well everytime we do that no one attacks it and we sit there doing nothing whilst the rest of the team steamrolls the opposition. Absolutely garaunteed that if we had pushed they would have attacked our base, such is life.

Absolutely cursed playing this

Still haven't managed to get stuck in to this, keep missing my friends online and then they moved on to 7dtd (and now in many cases, Hogwarts!)

I've joined the discord, thanks for setting that up @Megahurtz400 - I'll try to find some time in the next week to join in.

One issue I had after installing the game was that I tried to join a few servers, but couldn't find a populated one with no minimum level requirement

Thats were a good SL and Commander is needed.
Say you are in Easy, capture point A, SL should say to commander, do we push or defend, who is making the push for point B? The commander should be relaying order like this to all squads, even SLs can organise it. The discord I am on are all for this sort of thing, when we have 3+ of our own squads in a public game, we 9/10 win and we have the best defensive score out of all the squads.

Even when we were a 20 member discord (around 70 now iirc), we lost more but still had best scores, better organised, good comms and drills for players to react too and understand. I hope this discord of Megahurtz400 gets of the ground. I do think it does need a list of Drills and orders from the start, this way all player will know what to do when SL says an order/drill.

Edit: I do find sending out a couple of squadies on a little recon mission works too. If we are defending a point, we will send out 2, 2 man teams on the flanks, taking their time just to see if any enemy is near by. Report in and not to engage as to not to give away our position. There are lots of little tactics that can be used to great effect.

Yeah that along with people not placing enough garrisons. God that gets on my **** so bad.
