Helldivers 2

enjoying the illuminate and the new worlds, they needed an urban environment to mix things up. the illuminate seem to sit somewhere in the middle of the existing foes. they have very weak minor units, though slow there are many of them, and very strong major ones who require co-ordination to bring down; a single big hit will remove their shield but it does no real damage without a friend to follow up. If you hit the tripods with a quazar, for example, the shield will likely be up again before the quazar has cooled down. This does mean there is no obvious meta atm.. take your usual loadout and you'll probably do ok

This is only the basic Illuminate units, there is a lot more, scarier and bigger things coming!

Recently purchased Hell diver with my yearly Xmas steam voucher. Loving it so far, what I am not loving is its keeps crashing my PC. Updated my GPU drivers and it has helped but the crash’s are still present just less frequent.

Have read that people with AMD systems have had a lot problems with the game? Is this true?

That’s good to hear. Will just have figure out why mine is.
Checked event viewer to see what is causing the crash?

I have not had any crashes in quite some time.

I have just gone from an I7 9700K to an AMD 9800X3D and no issues on either system with crashing. Both where using a 4070Ti

Unless your hardware isn't stable - the game can be quite hard on it, most of the crashes with the game are game logic issues unrelated to what it is running on - cross-play with consoles used to be worse for that but I've not played it enough in awhile to know if that is still an issue.

Got to level 6 now with 6 hours play time. Not really digging it yet. Feels like its just COD Zombies set in space, no?

Will have a look today, it’s alway at the end of a mission. You board the jump ship and take off no issues. It’s when you’re seeing the scores and receiving rewards. During the loading period back onto your ship.
Iam running a slightly older rig, ryzen 5 2600 and a RX590. It’s been a solid machine, with very little issues and crashes. I do have a another CPU to up grade my system, just waiting to buy a GPU to go with it.

Is it at the end of every mission or is it random?

There has been a couple of time I have managed to play to two mission, luring me into a sense of Iv sorted this time, before it crashed. But I would say 80-90% of the time it’s after each mission.

I played it again today, had my FPS, GPU and CPU temps displayed whilst playing. Everything looked fine, game played smooth with no issues. Again at the end of the mission it crashed. After rebooting my rig, event logs at the time of the crash. All on powershell, 600, 400 and 403. From my basic knowledge on these, this is bad requests or forbidden requests? Could this be a firewall issue?

In event viewer double click Windows logs on the left and then Application.

On the right click on Filter current log and under event level select critical, warning and error and then press OK.

It will filter the application logs for errors and see if any of these relate to when helldivers 2 crashed or mention it in the error log by double clicking on the error in the list.

Followed your advice, got a event 1000 application error: helldiver2.exe

Is it just Helldivers 2 your having issues with?

Are you able to copy and paste the full error details?

Do you have any CPU\GPU\RAM overclocks? if so reset these back to default.

Having a quick look online you could try a few things

- Rename the GameGaurd folder in the Helldivers 2 install directory and verify steam files for Helldivers 2
- Make sure All Windows updates are installed.
- Make sure your on the latest GPU Drivers
- On the latest bios for your motherboard.
- Run Command Prompt as an administrator ("Win" logo key + "Q", enter "cmd", select "Run as administrator"), and enter the following commands one by one:

-DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

-DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

-DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

-SFC /Scannow

What's your full PC spec?

Thanks, a lot for your help. To be honest haven’t updated my motherboard bios for ages. Will try that next, as I have double checked my GPU is up to date and windows.

My first game last night from having a break and fighting the illuminate in the city felt so different.
It was more like this was a war of the worlds invasion and you were fighting in the streets for survival, the previous street you just retreated from had now been demolished by the tripods :D

So much fun and the feel I normally got when watching invasion films.

Yeah,

Played a game the other night, where we were at the extraction and 4x of the tripods came over the hill, bearing down on us looked proper frightening - calling in eagles, using the spear - really really great moments of gameplay watching them all topple down in the explosions and fire.

Yep definitely looks like I am still running an old bios. Will be updating this ASAP and fingers crossed that will help solve my issues.
