Helldivers 2

I have given up.

Nearly at the two hour steam refund limit 'playing the game' (without ever actually been able to play the game because I'm stuck on a wait screen)

Decided to get my money back and return when things have improved on the server side.

I note even one of the developers was saying some people shouldn't buy the game yet!

Not just any Developer but the CEO, he wants you to enjoy the game, he doesn't want you to spend money and then not be able to play either so he's happy to dissuade people whilst they sort it out.

I mean we have to remember its a backend code thing for them not a server issue. They could spin up more servers etc but the whole game would likely buckle under the strain so no one could play. The limits is so that people can still play in the meantime.

I mean im not sure as I haven't played Palworld but isn't the game limited to the server you are on. Maybe some stats for your account? But otherwise they literally can just spin up new servers for more people. Helldivers is communicating to every single player from what I understand and they all tie into the greater picture the game is based on.

As for the chat of difficulty Levels, Challenging is about my comfortable place, above that i start to struggle. I know everyone is different, but i believe Bugs are easier than robots, and your teammates are as much a factor in your difficulty level :D.

"Improvements to intermittent driver timeout or application crash while playing HELLDIVERS™ 2."

Also try turning off Screen Space Global Illumination, doing that seems to have fixed the crashing for me.
Note this very much broke my GPU where it would try to keep ramping up the core clock and overheat and crash due to instability. Was getting more FPS with it but yeah (140-150fps with max settings at 3440x1440) but would ignore my chill settings in the driver to limit the FPS between 90-100fps and so I had to just hard cap instead.

We did our first 'challenging' mission last night and it was insane. So intense, barely made it out and we couldn't even do any of the optional objectives. We also used about 6 reinforces right off the drop... 10/10 would do it all again.
Haha I jumped in with some friends and they were doing Impossible level and there was a half dozen Imperial Guard Baneblades to content with against the robots side! When you step up to Tier 3 enemies at suicide missions it intense. I haven't done anything over hard for the bugs at min with different friends group. But the Bile Titans are "fun" when you first see them ha.

It seems so arbitrary on getting in. All of us last night got in within 5-15mins of waiting and got gaming and there was 3 other buddies I game with whom got on similar time just fine.

This exactly. Palworld is not using the servers to create a central system that links everyone's progress together in to a global system and then communicate that back to each client etc. The whole system is different.

On the bugs vs robots. Once you can get a personal shield the right weapons the robots are just as easy relative to one another. You just need to be higher level initially to take on the terminator horde.

Agreed, The personal shield generator gives you a chance to get in cover or the couple of lined up Unstable Railgun Shots on a rocket devastator. My backup is the EMS Mortar, works so well for giving you a breather sometimes. Fourth slot is whatever I feel is needed/lacking in the team slot.

But generally yeah until you get the right stuff, bots are harder.

Oh and for those curious, a Ballistic Shield seems good on paper since it stops lasers whilst you advance.....It does not stop the devastators autocannon or rockets of course so it feels a bit lacking on anything above medium difficulty. Fun to run below that.

Being a shift worker is crap usually but at least i can get straight on when i'm on nights. Just had some good games with 3 randoms. Having the 4th man in the squad really helps unsurprisingly

no issues getting in but every time i launch a missions it crashes to desktop now, on the first note of the epic launch music every time.
Tried wiping and reinstalling Drivers, disabling everything else, even reinstalling the game and defaulting the in game settings no joy.

Managed a few games tonight and did an extreme at the end.
How does extreme play? We moved from challenging to hard yesterday and it definitely felt like we probably were a little under levelled (none of us yet are level 20) to have access to more stratagems/weapons etc. but it was still a lot of fun.

There's something weirdly satisfying about fighting 3 bile titans at once whilst runnning for your life trying to avoid teammates orbital strikes.

What are your PC specs? And what settings are you running?

It seems like the game is causing critical errors on AMD's 7000 series for some. Some have said that if they turned off Global Illumination and Ambient Occlusion then it runs fine - otherwise some setting a clock limit to 90% is also working.

If people are having crashes try forcing DX11

right click on game on steam > enter this in launch options:

--use-d3d11

I haven't tried this personally but someone I know has, felt it gave better performance too obviously with visuals a bit less nice.

The queue's are going to get a break. 15min afk timer. I wonder if they'll have something set against auto clicker of some kind though. :D

Been seeing A LOT of chatter about this game, how is it to play solo? I struggle to get a regular gaming group on the go. Every review ive seen is like "better with friends"
It's not impossible solo on the lower difficulties but it's 100% meant to be played in a group.

Quickplay / find a group is working now well though - and there's been times when my usual group isn't on that I've jumped into games with a few random people and we've ended up adding as friends/partying up for a longer session.
