Helldivers 2

Grrrr.. second time on Helldiver difficulty, 90% of the way through the mission, on the way to extract... computer crash.

Second time in a row today :(
 
Shouldn't need to limit FPS to 93 though some people's mileage may vary - I found anything below 150 helps stability.

There is one setting which a lot of people were having instability with it above medium but I forget what it was.

Forcing Game Guard to reinstall seems to fix some of the crashes - I had one instance of it incorrectly updating causing frequent CTDs but I wouldn't add/modify it to exceptions unless absolutely necessary.

I thought I would give the anti-material rifle a try and OMG it's so good against bots :D

I also tried the stationary shield generator and if I could refund the points I would... :(
 
Never tried anti-material against the bots, may give it a whirl.

Yeah a few of the stratagems are beyond useless, cant figure out what the intent was behind them. Like the HMG placement, its not even strong enough to counteract the fact you have to stand still like massive boob.
 
Well, I thought updating my graphics driver had fixed my CTD...but alas, no. That being said, I've played a few games before it decided to die...although it would be nice if it didn't do it right at the end of a long mission :/
 
Guess I'm gonna have to give up playing this game, though I don't want to as it is the kind of game I enjoy - but spent an hour playing tonight and 90% of it was a waste of time for various reasons including in 2/3rds of games just quitting out because the AI director seems to have lost the plot.

EDIT: FFS Trying to take out a bug nest - turn around and where there was nothing is instantly a solid column of around 10 bile spewers... and my EMS Mortar happily slows me but for some reason isn't applying to them... dead... something really not working right with this game at the moment.

EDIT2: Unbelievable 3 games in a row the players on the mission boarded the shuttle at the end of the mission at the same point I'm podding in...

What an absolute waste of time, one good 20 minute run in 4 hours of playing and the rest spent leaving missions due to frustrating bugs, joining people trying to do the 60 evac at like 2 minutes left with 0-5 civilians evac'd, joining teams who were mid-extracting, joining right in the middle of a big bug swarm unable to do anything, etc. etc.

SIGH near the end of a good mission... game exits to desktop with no error... FFS.

I'm not really getting any instability or issues with the game in that respect, AMD CPU/GPU here.

I've had a few instances of being intentional team killed and or kicked at the end of a game, for no reason.

They need some kind of report function and moderation otherwise people will stop playing due to this.
 
Rarely play with randoms but when I have, haven’t had any issues. Then again I’ve never shied away from talking **** and making my presence known with randoms :p

Did enjoy Rroff saying he might stop playing the game, then spent a further 3 hours playing til almost 5am :D

Missions


  • Retrieve Essential Personnel
Moved the enemy spawn points further away from the objective to give players a fairer chance of defending the location.

There are fewer civilians required to complete the mission on higher difficulties.

  • Destroy Command Bunkers
Now has more objective locations, the mission was too easy before compared to other missions.

It can now appear in operations from difficulty 5.

  • Halved the negative effect of operation modifiers that increase stratagem cooldowns or call in times.
Primary, Secondary, & Support Weapons

  • Arc Thrower: fixed charging inconsistencies; it will now always take 1s to charge a shot.
  • Arc Thrower: reduced distance from 50m to 35m.
  • Arc Thrower: increased stagger force.
  • Guard Dog: now restores full ammo from supply boxes.
  • Anti-Materiel Rifle: damage increased by 30%.
  • Breaker Incendiary: damage per bullet increased from 15 per bullet to 20 per bullet.
  • Fire damage per tick increased by 50% (from all sources).
  • Liberator Penetrator: now has a full auto mode.
  • Dominator: increased damage from 200 to 300.
  • Dominator: increased stagger.
  • Diligence Counter Sniper: increased armor penetration from light to medium.
  • Slugger: reduced stagger.
  • Slugger: reduced damage from 280 to 250.
  • Slugger: reduced demolition force.
  • Slugger: fixed armor penetration tag in the menu.
  • Slugger, Liberator Concussive, Senator: fixed incorrect armor penetration tags in the menu.
  • Recoilless Rifle: increased the number of rockets you restore from supply boxes from 2 to 3.
  • Spear: increased the number of missiles you restore from supply boxes from 1 to 2.
  • Heavy Machine Gun: the highest fire rate mode reduced from 1200 rpm to a more moderate 950
Stratagems

  • Patriot Exosuit: rockets will now penetrate armor only on direct hit.
Enemies

  • Balancing adjustments have been made to:
Chargers normal melee attack now does less damage against Exosuits.

Bile Spewer and Nursing Spewer do less damage with their puke.

The Bile Titan can no longer be stunned.

Shriekers no longer create bug breaches.

Shriekers hitting you while they are dead now does significantly less damage.

Helldiver

  • Balancing adjustments have been made to:
Heavy and medium armor protects better and you now take about 10% less damage than before while wearing heavy and about 5% less when wearing medium armor. Fortified commando and light armor is unchanged.

Fixes

  • Fixed issue where save settings for PS5 would be reset when the game is rebooted, causing things such as loadout and hint settings to reset.
  • Enemies now properly target Exosuits. Previously, many enemies effectively ignored Exosuits if a helldiver on foot was available for them to target.
  • Fixed Exosuits being able to fire their weapons while opening the minimap.
  • The Helldiver and the Exosuit both had a bug that made them sometimes take explosion damage multiple times making things like automaton rockets be too deadly, this is now fixed.
  • Automaton enemy constellations that preferred to spawn more of certain Devastators types did not work and are now functioning as they should. This means that sometimes when playing against the Automatons you will face more Devastators instead of other enemy types.
  • We have improved the system that prevents hellpod steering close to large or important objects.
We have solved issues where the effective area around objects was a lot larger than intended.

We have reduced the number of objects that prevent hellpod steering.

⚠️ Note: This system is intended to prevent softlocks where players can drop on important interaction points, or drop into unintended places. We will continue to monitor the state of the system after the update to see if additional tweaks are necessary.

  • Fixed cases where the ground under some assets could be bombed causing them to float.
  • Ballistic shield changes:
Collision mesh has been slightly increased in size for more forgiveness.

Changed shield poses so that less of the helldiver is exposed.

Addressed bug where parts of the helldiver would become vulnerable while using the shield in first person.

Known Issues

These are issues that were either introduced by this patch and are being worked on, or are from a previous version and have not yet been fixed.

  • Game might crash when picking up a snowball or throwing back a grenade.
  • Various issues involving friend invites and cross-play:
Cross-platform friend invites might not show up in the Friend Requests tab.

Players cannot unfriend other players befriended via friend code.

Players cannot unblock players that were not in their Friends list beforehand.

Players cannot befriend players with Steam names shorter than 3 characters.

  • Explosive weapon stats include only direct hit damage but not explosive damage.
  • Explosions do not break your limbs (except for when you fly into a rock).
  • Planet liberation reaches 100% at the end of every Defend mission.
  • Drowning in deep water with a Vitality Booster equipped puts Helldiver in a broken state.
  • Stratagem beam might attach itself to an enemy but it will deploy to its original location.
  • Some player customizations (like title or body type) may reset after restarting the game.

When I make a decision to quit playing a game it usually isn't a decision I take lightly or ever go back on, at least not without substantial changes to fix what turned me off a game. If I drop this game it'll be uninstall and never invest time into again.

If I was going through even a fraction of the issues you appear be having I’d have binned the game off long ago!

I like this kind of gameplay, when I get a good game in I enjoy it a lot. So it isn't a game I'm rushing to quit, but if I do quit it isn't a decision I'm likely to reverse, so I'm not going to bin it off on a whim so to speak.

Ah I get that dude. Just saying you’ve a shed load more will power than me. I love the game but the amount of grief you’ve had from it would have had me alt-f4ing and uninstalling a long time ago!

Looks like the game is trying to make the decision for me... ever since today's patch I can't join a game - it just sits for 2 minutes at the screen where your ship joins the other player's ships, then dumps me back to my ship.

Not played today - between work and man flu/covid I’ve not had a chance to check the patch out.
Might be worth re verifying files again after the patch, if you’ve not already?
 
Managed to get in a game after a few tries - maybe people playing on different versions or something? dunno if the game kicks everyone out for an updated. Would have thought you'd get an error for that though.

Left mission after 3 BS deaths in a row though :( so doesn't look like much has changed in that respect.

Anyone know if levels are retrospectively applied? seeing quite a few people level 70+ already in just a couple of games today.
