Help, Indian virgin

 Whoa! Very similar to me. As I've said I'm a Rogan Josh fan, but a lamb one rather than chicken. I've tried Kormas before but I'm not really a fan.

I normally have a Lamb Rogan Josh, the mandatory Pilau rice, some Bombay potatoes and some plain poppadoms and a plain Naan. Makes me happy if a little full for a while.:D
I prefer lamb rogan josh too. I also like everything you've mentioned :)

Really enjoy cooking indian food too. It looks so complicated (herbs/spices +++), but it's not at all, and you end up with a dish of pure gorgeousness.

Hmmmm, guess what I'll be cooking next week :D

milk isnt neutral, go get some litmus paper from your local chemist and give it a shot ;)

I would be guessing its a weak base, they used to put people on a milk-drip to cure stomach ulcers by neutralising stomach acids.

Guess what I'm having tonight?;)

Rogan Josh sauce from Tesco's, not their own brand though. Chicken version tonight, don't think my local little Tesco's does lamb ready for a curry.

What time should we turn up? I'll bring the wine.
I'll bring the pud.:D

I'd never been for an Indian until I was about 23-24(?). I like the fancy rice, nan breads etc but I've never had a curry that I would call genuinely nice. Maybe it's because I tend to steer clear of the hot ones (strongest I've had is Chicken Tikka) but in general I find that style of food hideously overrated.

Basically if I'm going to be paying over a tenner for a meal I'd rather it be something that I actually like rather than just "ok".

indeed they did! :) and your right it is a weak base but its alkalie enough to neutralise the acidity on your tongue and in your stomach. :) its either that or go suck on a duracell.

You need to be askuing for a phaal (sounds like farl) - nice mild beginners curry. If challenged by the waiter over whether you're sure that's what you want, tell him you're suer - he's just trying to talk you into ordering a proper currey like a dopiaza or Bhuna.

Milk is good for hot food because capsaicin is a lot more soluable in it than in water... i don't think it's because it's an alkali. I believe capsaicin itself is an alkali too...

That wiki is fundamentally broken, the curry holes on Wimslow Road are crap, they exsist purely to get drunk mancs in, feed them, then ship them out. :p

Anyone else think curry + chips is plain wrong? Leon always insists on having chips with his :/

depends on what curry and how cheap the curry was!

i'll often buy a tesco "curry" for £2 and have it with chips or on a potato.. i find the variety is good :)

Chinese curry doesn't count, although I think that's better off in the bin than on chips :p Gravy is where it's at.

OMG no! Beef curry, chips and a bit of chow mein - that's where it's at!

My mouth's watering now :p
