Hi guys I've just had this email come through saying the following,
Greetings, We are writing to inform you that we have, unfortunately, had to cancel your World of Warcraft account: Account Name: LOWRIDER007Type of Violation: Involvement in online trading activitiesInvestigation Concluded: 01/12/2008Consequences for Account: Account Cancellation It is with regret that we take this type of action, however, it is in the best interest of the World of Warcraft community as a whole, and for the integrity of the game, that your access to the World of Warcraft servers be cancelled. Online trading refers to the exchange of in-game content for real world money, and includes, but is not limited to, the sale or purchase of gold, the sale or purchase of experience in the form of powerlevelling, and the sale or purchase of honor points, reputation or items. Account access is the responsibility of the account owner and account sharing is against our Terms of Use (http://www.wow-europe.com/en/legal/termsofuse.html). Therefore, should you believe someone other than yourself (the account owner) has committed this violation of the Terms of Use with your account, these sanctions would still apply, as our action is taken against the account, not the individual. If you wish to review our current Rules and Polices, they can be found at:http://www.wow-europe.com/en/policy/ Regards, Account Administration Team

Take note of the bold part :(, that doesn't look good, is there a chance I can get my acc back ?, who do I contact ?, I'm not a happy bunny :(, I haven't even been on my wow acc for 2 weeks so god knows what this is.

Don't look good amigo :( You sure you didn't do anything?
I suppose emailing them won't do any harm to the matter

I would email back asking what evidence they have that your account was involved in the illegal trading.

However before doing that does anyone else use your account, such as a younger brother or sister?

The bolded part is just so you cant say 'but my little brother did it', if you think they are wrong then I'd deny the allegation and ask for proof, but do so nicely.

No one else uses my acc and no one else has access to my machines :( whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!! :(, I've defo never done anything illegal for a fact.

Anyone know what email I should use to contact them with ?, the sender of the email I received today was [email protected], do think I can reply to that one ?

Dam ****ing dam, was looking forward to levelling up my character over Christmas, this is my first acc as well, ARGHHHHHHHHHH FFS.

Aye not looking good, however, as said above ask for evidence of activities. Blizzard will have a log of the IP addresses so if the IP was coming from say China then that will trigger something their side.

What seems strange to is this is a Ban without warning, unless you have already had a previous warning.

You'd have more problems explaining incoming gold/levelling than outgoing, as hackers etc dont tend to level peoples accounts and give them gold...

If it was outgoing and you say no-one else uses your account then you need to think how someone has been able to do it... maybe you have a keylogger, if so scan for one, if you find one take a screen shot, it will help the case that your account was hacked.

Had someone im my clan who got this. He doesnt cheat, not that type of person. He got the account back after a month or 2. Maybe a key logger or your using an easy password.

Blizzard need to sort this issue out, banning innocent people gg, if it was me i'd tell em to shove their game.

Whatever you do demand compensation for any subscription time you've pre-paid on the account. If you pay every 3 months and have another month to go then demand that money back.

And as the other people here said demand evidence from them and inform them that legally they are obliged to provide said evidence *before* voiding your contract. Also inform them that if said evidence cannot be brought forward that you will take them to court over breach of contract. It's really not that hard to do nowadays and will cost them not you if they can't provide any evidence.

They're just hoping that none of you people they're doing this to have any clue of contract law. Go to your library and ask for a book regarding UK contract law. It's practically identical to Irish contract law which I've spent the last 4 months studying. It's not that hard to get the basics and is well worth it for anyone to know no matter what your situation is.

The onus is on them in this situation to provide a case against you in order to void your contract with them. Nothing they can put in their terms & conditions can change that.

Is that all really worth it for twenty-odd quids worth of subscription? Honestly?

The bottom line is that they can cancel your access to THEIR servers whenever they like and without warning.
They also don't actually have to give you any reason because, it is their system and up to them who they allow to play.
So no you cannot demand such information from them (well you can, but funily enough I think they will laugh at your demand).
However by terminating your account without reason you are right in that any fees you've paid in advance you would be entitled to a refund on.

They have actually given you a reason, so this negates their requirement to perform a refund - as long as they can prove what they have said.

At the absolute best the OP has paid for 3 months access and is owned 2 months as a refund.
To get that refund it will involve them constantly saying it happened and him constantly saying it didn't happen.
Worth a day in court for £20?
Principle or not I think there comes a point where most people will just call it a day and to be honest....rightly so.

If the OP is 100% sure of his innocence then he should be attempting to get his account re-instated.
However as Blizzards T&C's say - the security of your PC is your own responsability.
If something has happened with the account in question it was either:

1. Hacked - Unlikely, if there was a known way of hacking WOW accounts then they would be done regularly.
2. Accessed Illegally - Key logger, phishing, shared information, weak password - Covered by the Blizzard T&C's on PC security.

I wouldn't have thought you'd be getting the account back in a hurry.

It's simple.

If you've been hacked, get on the phone to Account Support or get emails going back and forth. There will be IP and activity logs that will enable you to get your account back just the way it was when you last left it.

If you've been naughty and not told us, or you've let a friend/relative/pet use your account and they've done so, then you've not got a leg to stand on, and rightly so.

So which is it? :)

You haven't read the WoW ToS have you?

And anyway, it is not a contract. nothing has been signed, there are no documents. You can argue that because they are acting like there is a contract there could be some grounds for him to stand on. but it's not really.

The message the op has gotten from blizz refers to him purchasing/selling either gold/items/or characters.

The op hasn't denied doing such things either. They are not illegal, however they are against the EULA and such actions will get you banned.

But end of the day I haven't actually done any such acts so on principle I will be threatening them with court action, I know that sounds silly and probably nothing will come of it but it's not about the money, I just don't like being told I've done something that contravenes the EULA or whatever when I haven't done anything wrong, I've had that character for a few years, I spent 1 year levelling it up slowly and stopped for about a year, until recently that is, and then I get that email sent through without warning, I'm not a happy chappy.

now that you have got a new lease of life, what are you going to do with it?

here are some suggestions to help you get back into society.

visit a neighbour

goto the park

phone a friend

have a go at a crossword puzzle

there are so many things in real life that you can do now , and with all your free time, you may meet someone special.
