Help Team OcUK beat some Russians…

You can set it up to only use a small percentage of cpu time like 20% so it won't overheat, and you can set it to use only a small amount of memory to keep the pc fast. Anything is better than nothing!
Sound advice if you're worried. I've found 90% cuts CPU temps by a degree or three without causing much other impact.

Just a note of caution for gamers. The graphical version of Folding@home is known to interfere with games. If in doubt, use the command-line version (details in the threads linked above). All you'll lose is the pretty graphics.

Re-Downloaded this, forgot that I started this a while ago but had to uninstall when the pc borked.

EDIT: How many machines can I have running with the same user id?

Ugh I think my room is hot enough without the CPU pumping away on 100% :p
Then set it to 50% :p

You can have as many as you like with the same user name,
the machine id is for each processor/core in each machine, set them all to 1 unless your running two instances on a dual core/cpu machine. Hope that answers your question.

I've got like 15 atm, but I've seen more like 100+ on some

You can run as many machines as you like with the same username. The Machine ID bit found in the setup is just for running more than one instance of Folding on the SAME COMPUTER.

I have dozens of machines crunching for my username. :)

EDIT: Wow, three answers to the same question in the same minute.

Just taking precuations unless anyone gets an unhealthy addiction to the pretty pictures. :)
tbh, anyone who uses their Folding PCs for ANYTHING else is slacking
you should buy MORE rigs JUST for folding, and any spair PCs you have around should be resurected for folding too, who cares if theres no moniter connected if its not being used for anything but folding! Ultra VNC for the win!!

EVEN MY PDA FOLDS!

tbh, I've had to cut down recently, having 10 PCs in one room folding (and I use the term "room" losely, its my "office" a converted ship container) was playing HAVOC with my elecy bill.
thats apart from the PCs that I need running anyway.

its what it takes to be #12 dumper in the team week in week out, while your fastest PC is a A64 3500 :D
