Help Team OcUK beat some Russians…

you might find that the stats server doesn't like the special character - it won't affect the science but you might not be able to view your stats properly once work has been completed
might be best to stop the service and reconfigure it with a name using normal characters and _ if you want to space the text out

cheers for that, was wondering why it wasn't showing (should be as Sloth now).

If it's just a configuration thing, I'm sure we can help you out. However, if work put the proxy in place to stop this sort of thing then that's that (we encourage neither proxy dodging nor using DC - or any other - software without permission).

Not a config thing unfortunately.

The proxy has been put in place deliberately in order to stop anonymous access to the 'net (it's a legal requirement apparently). I have no problem with that and I have no intention of trying to get around it unless it's above board. I've spoken to the Network Manager and he's happy for F@H to run, its just that it can't at the moment due to various reasons. Considering it's hardly a priority issue in a 1300 PC domain, then I don't think it's going to happen!

It's a shame. But as I say, if anything ever changes, then I'll be back :)

And remember the stats only update every 3 hours, and sometimes it takes two updates to see your workunit.

Also remember you can use fahmon to see what unit your working on, how many points its worth etc.

Getting around that sort of proxy usually requires running another proxy on your own system to take care of the authentication, then you point F@H at that. I've seen it done before but can't remember the details.

*head... exploding*

i'll just let it run :o
Its easy... the stats site doesn't know you exist until you send it something, and and it also updates every 3 hours so if you submitted a unit now it wouldn't show up until 9. And sometimes it takes two updates, in which case it won't show up untill 12.

I'll be stomping Plasmoid next update :p
I remember when he stomped me... payback time!

Ok downloaded and installed as instructed here. Now I've a console window telling me I have completed 0 out of 1000000 steps. Is this what I am meant to have and will closing the console stop the folding?

When you reboot it will disappear. Thats all perfectly fine. Thanks for joining. :)

If you want to know what its doing, how many points its working on etc download fahmon.

Edit: Yes closing the window will stop it. Best to reboot if you want to get rid of the window.

That's how I did it back in my folding days.

Give me a poke if I can be of any help Kyzia. It's a little fiddly but once it works you can forget about it :)

Do you know what proxy software it is?

Cheers for the response, you have time for another. Should I run it twice for a dual core system?

Depends on whose dual core it is. If it's an A64 X2 or a Core Duo, then yes. If it's a P4, it's not so clearcut (because the P4 dual core implementation sucks compared to the others).

My computer has been folding its little heart out for that past week and a bit.
I only make 300 points a week, every bit counts though :)

I would (in fact i am!). Run two copies of it in two separate folders and make the machine id of one 1 and the other 2.
