Here we go - ~£1500, fast, fun and insurable!

Clio 16v - can't go wrong for the money really. Eats VTRs up and insurance wise they're dead cheap nowadays. 137bhp as standard which is fairly easy to bump up a bit, a superb chassis which handles the power perfectly, and since you're coming from a French motor you know what to expect with the rattles.

I can't stop smiling driving mine, was great value for money and mine came in at under £1500 too.

Honda CRX Si.

1.6 16v, 130bhp and an awesome chassis.

Yep, I concur

My CRX (not the Del Sol) was one of the most fun to drive, agressive looking and a great engine

Nissan 200sx S13 modded to stage 2. I sold mine for £1500 and it was incredible! 280bhp Rear wheel drive (LSD too) Japanese sideways fun mobile. If you want something with character, looks (I like them :D ) and are prepared to spend the occasional bit of time under the hood then I highly recommend them for cheap but quality fun. Gets up to 140 very quickly and keeps going, made the most amazing sound too, I think 0-60 was around 4.5 (IIRC). <3

Here's mine (the guy I sold it too crashed it not too long ago :*( )

And the most important thing, it's got pop up headlights (girls love em!! w00t!)

I had no idea the S13's were so quick! Impressive specs... 280bhp through the rear wheels is going to be fun :D

I seriously love that style of interior. The large centre section looks great and the seating position looks really low.

Yeah, remember that's modded to Stage 2 (easy enough to do apart from taking the engine out to slap on the T28 turbo :P ). If buying (and I want another) I would get one that's already at Stage 2 done by someone with many posts on www.sxoc.com. That way you can check it's history on the boards, see if there's any reoccuring problems etc. Mine was absolutely fine for the 2 years I had it, I changed the oil every 3000 miles though with expensive oil which helps a lot. The gear shift it proper clunky sports feel, very low seating and 50/50 weight balance makes it one of the best and easiest cars to drift (go sideways). It's also built as a sports car so handles the power perfectly. OMG, I want another so badly (i'm a London commuter now :( )

280bhp is plenty for the roads, the amount of cars I oblitirated was unreal. BMW M3's were easily eaten, the handling I would say is it's only downfall when there's any hint of damp. Handling can be sorted out with ARBs etc though, I just went sideways.

PMKeates, they're fine if you keep them as standard... and I mean, come on, 6 seconds to 60 and 150+ top speed, that should really be fast enough for anyone.
I agree. That's why I have pretty much decided to get one for my next car. I've got my particularly beady eye on N114 FDH ;)

Go diesel, insurance companies think you buy them for economy, but they pull like stick, loads of torque. Top speed is a bit down, but they get there quick. Megane 1.9 turbo - cheap to buy & service evey 18000 miles or 2 years and 40+ mpg

Ohhhhh, that's the one. I was thinking of the one with 17k.

That's quite a good price, but don't tell the RT guys you're contemplating paying that much. They'll start the whole "what's so special about FDH" discussion.

I do have to agree with them though. A 75k FDH isn't worth quite that much. I'd try £2000 :)

You may change your mind when you're relaxing in the body hugging full leather, being cooled by the A/C as you release the dump valve driving past McDonalds ;)

I wouldnt say it was worth any more than the none FDH equivelant. In-fact, it's not. If cableguy were about he'd say the same thing. Waste of money. You could buy a very very nice coupe tub for 2600 spondoodlies. And as for keeping it standard, theres nowt wrong with a gbe set at say 11psi (which is factory max anyway), just makes the boost come in sooner, which makes a big difference.

How many have you seen for sale that have both but is not an FDH? ;)
Let's not take the thread too far off course, anyway.
205GTi, end of thread :p
