First off I won't play LoL or DOTA, too much hassle and too much of a learning curve, i can't be bothered with it.

This though i really enjoy. It's fun to play, easy to pick up and as long as you try to do the objectives 99% of people are decent.

Work as a group and you will win most pug games.

Also i like the Blizzard universe which helps a lot and it's pretty polished.

My gf loves LoL and is bloody good! I'm an absolute loss at it, I can just about survive ARAM but the mechanics of the main 5v5 are just lost on me entirely. I can't be bothered with all that micro management and keeping an eye on everything.

I love CS competitive for example.

She wants to get stuck into HotS with me, is it going to be gentle on me? I take these sorts of games with huge doses of salt and generally try to have a laugh and not take it seriously.

Grab a beta key from G2A for roughly £2-4 like I did and try it out.

You can play the game with a full set of AI letting you get to grips with your characters mechanics and the map objectives.

There's also an option to test out any of the heroes in a small one lane map.

I think I've already got access? Not sure, remember installing the game on my PC...

How is it different to LoL's 5v5? I like ARAM because it's clear what the goal is... Defeat the team and enjoy the character given to you.

How is it different to LoL's 5v5? I like ARAM because it's clear what the goal is... Defeat the team and enjoy the character given to you.

XP is shared amongst all allies, no individual levelling up.
No gold or last hit, just unlock bonuses as you level up.
Each map has camps to take control of and an objective. Objectives can be summon golems, dragon knight, take control of towers to attack base etc...
Not every map is 3 laned.
End game is still the same, destroy enemy base before they destroy yours.

A team that works together usually wins against random people doing their own thing. To start off though its always worth getting in a lane and killing mobs for xp up to about level 10 to unlock your ultimate skill.

I have seen very little abuse from people as long as people try to do the objective. All in all its been a pleasant experience with people and i've not taken it very seriously at all.

Just gone 27-0, i like how it changes your name. I had lightening coming out of my name when over 15 kills i think. Then hero of the storm is called out at 20.

For those just starting it's worth trying all the characters on the free rotation as you get 500g for hitting level 5. Done all mine so far...

Only played with pugs so far with varied success, would be nice to group up.

I have played dota 2 only 2.5k MMR so no expert but find hots a breath of fresh air, as has been pointed out in this thread the games times are much more friendly for busy people

Agreed 15-25 min games are much more enjoyable than an hour long slog.

Joined up with some pugs earlier and won 6 out of 7, losing the only game by 10% on the core.

Really good group and all played together.

My gf and I played a game this morning before work, and wow! A lot of fun. A little bit of a learning curve but nothing like LoL! It was my first game, she's done a few. Naturally turned a bit bossy which wasn't fun. I need to learn for my own so will play solo for a bit.

Will do guys, I have NO idea of in game 'strategy', as in what lanes when etc. But I'm sure I will work it out.
