I managed to get it to work, thanks all :)

Played 3 practice games against bots, when I won them it said I levelled up (got to level 2 apparently) and got a load of gold for winning games.

Back on the main screen though I still show as level 1 with no gold, is it just a "dummy" show in practice to show you what to expect and you don't level/make gold or is that a bug?

Quite a fun little game so far.

Can't remember but sometimes it does bug out with levelling.

Co-op also provides xp and gold, thats against bots. Granted they're both reduced but it's a good way to get an idea whats going on.
 
Dear lord quick match is pretty volatile. Sometimes the other team is few crumbs short of the full biscuit, and then other times they are a crack team of navy seals who are all sitting in the same basement.

Somewhere in the middle would be nice, Blizzard.
 
Well I had 3 quick matches as Jania, won 1 as a stomp, won a really close game then lost 1 getting stomped so seen most sides :p

Think the level thing was bugged for me but it took Jania to level 2.

Nice little game and I like how quick the matches are, even got added as a friend already by some guy I played the 3 games with.

Can see myself playing this a wee bit.

I imagine as you level you get gold which you use to unlock heroes permanently as opposed to just those on free rotation?

Level each free rotation hero to 5. You will get 500 gold per hero.

You will also receive:

2,000 Gold at Account Levels 20, 25, 30, 35, 40
1,250 Gold at Hero Level 15
2,500 Gold at Hero Level 20

Along with a 7 day stimpack at account level 10.

Heroes can be bought for gold or cash, they have a sale every Tuesday with heroes at 50% off.
 
The game is becoming just as toxic as Dota. Playing Hero League a Muradin on my team proceeds to rage because someone picks Raynor and then proceeds to collect as many coins on Blackheart Bay as possible. Once he has over 20 coins he rather generously runs over to the enemy and feeds them the coins. The dumb thing is that even 4v5 and with this idiot we still nearly win the game

I ask him to stop, say 'come on mate we can win yada yada' and his only response is 'GG Raynor'

This is supposedly a HL game with lots of Rank 10 ish people. It's just like Dota :)

This make me glad I am struggling to raise through the ranks in HL, seems its just as possible to get bad luck on your team.

I went from a great winning streak to get close to breaking into the 20's to now losing nearly every game I play so bumped right down to the late 30's again. I am on the biggest losing streak I have ever been on, I think I have only won one game in about 20.

Normally it doesnt bother me as I can make my own fun, but nearly ever loss has been due to someone leaving or getting the hump and purposely screwing the team over.

I think I will leave HL for when I am playing with people I know, stick to QM.
 
It's why i won't solo queue hero league.

I end up just having fun in QM where you can play who you want and it's no biggie losing.

That said it would be good to get 2/3 on comms and join hero league.

Yeah it's not hard to get into so less daunting than the others.

I'd do the tutorial if you haven't played a MOBA before, it will give you the basics.

Then' I'd try a few heroes in versus AI first to get an idea. The AI is pretty poor so it's ok to get used to the mechanics.

Assassins - hit hard but squishy
Warriors - take more damage and initiate fights
Support - heals, shields etc...
Specialist - is a variety of things.

Thats a basic idea of the heroes. Just play the objectives, work as a team and dont get over eager to chase the kill or push to deep.
