HID Conversion Kits

My dads R34 & Bro in laws accord Type R had xenons fitted as standard @ the factory without projectors. Infact a lot of Jap cars do without projectors. Whats the difference here then?

I thought both Accord Type R and R34 with Xenons had projectors? Can't say I've seen that many R34's but Accords certainly have projectors - you dont get factory fit HID systems without projector lenses.

Maybe I am misunderstanding projectors then. Is this the projector both cars of which I mentioned do not have this.

Yes, thats a projector. But Psycrow owned an ATR with HID's and had projectors, and you can't sell cars in the UK with HID's which don't have projectors.

Not all Accord Type R's had HID's either just what do you expect to prove with random pictures of cars? I could show you a Focus ST with reflector lights even though you know very well the HID models had projectors.

I am telling you 100% that not all cars with xenons from the factory have projectors ....accept it :)

Just looking at my Ballasts now they seem to be rebranded Philips or Hella ones.

They have a 3rd connection that non of the cheap units have?

Yep, all depends if you want to pay the extra for the added performance i suppose.
I had some ballasts like those, except unbranded ones, and they were appalling. One was leaking high voltage and luckily I only noticed because the light failed as the casing earthed on the car's body. I couldn't work out what was happening until I saw a massive spark while messing about.*It may look like the Hella/Philips ones but I would hope that is just the casing and sticker as the quality of them is so bad.

With regards to light scatter and projector lenses, I had HIDs in my 325ci for 18 months and was not flashed once. However I bought a decent set after the problems with the above ones, and the difference in light scatter was amazing. I have no idea why as the bulbs were installed in the same way, I guess the expensive HID kit had better ones though.

Just came across this picture, halogen on the left, HID on the right. The flare in the centre of the HID is actually the reflection off the garage door as it's so bright. Back away a few feet and you lose the lens flare effect.

Recieved the kit today, looks of very high quality compared to some of the HID kits I have seen before. The ballasts look identical to the Philips ones that Firestar posted obviously without the Philips branding.

Prob have a go at fitting them tommorow or may wait till I can finally get some ST lamps in. :)

To be honest I never really poked around to see if the ATR had projectors, I just assumed they did since a legal requirement. When you fired the lights up they formed a perfect line beam that auto levels, the HID kit on my accord sport threw light all over the shop - So it wasn't the same reflectors as the standard accord.

I dont know why you guys think that becuase they look very similar they are rebranded - they are not. This is what happens with Chinese stuff - it's VERY similar looking to established brands. You should see their cars

My Estima has factory Xenons, but doesn't have projectors :)

It has a kind of 'mask' over the top half of the bulbs though, and I'd guess the reflectors are designed in a different way to those used with normal bulbs.
