Highbury - The Final Salute (No spoliers)

It does indeed, I expect the grass will be there soon, it's only just over 2 months till the first game there.

Got your cheque too :)

i not sure on how they do it, but my guessing is that the seed is probably going to be down on that mesh within the next week or so, probably even a few days after those photos was taken.

its "top secret" layers but it looked like it was corse sand, then a good mix of soil, then the mesh/fine web, then seed, followed by some more soil? Ie so the roots hold onto that mesh?

edit: by the looks on arsenal main site, the turf is already down?

shows a slight hint of green under that mesh?

2nd edit, the pictures above in this thread also show the turf down?

Nah, it's not turf, thats a plastic weave that the grass will grow into to hold it togehter. They will be seeding the pitch, no turf here :)

See very green

Stolen from elsewhere

yes its true. Its new technology to help the real grass grow. What happens apparently is a layer of plastic roots (what we have seen being laid recently) will be beneath the playing surface. The grass roots will attach to the plastic which will promote good balance growth. This technology will make up for the different growing conditions at our new Stadium compared to what we had at Highbury ( Isn't it strange to be talking of Highbury in past tense??)

Glad i got to go to the stadium
Was only a carling cup game vs Everton but it was brilliant none the less !!!
I shall never forget that night - our B team won 3-1 or so i think - still have the matchday guide/ticket on my wall at home :o :D
Will definately try to make it to the new stadium a few times if not more - especially if we win the CL !

Yes thats right Arsenal Stadium, not Highbury ;).

Hoobloodyray.
One of my biggest bugbears all over the years is hearing commentators calling the ground Highbury.
However, even the club ended up calling it Highbury because of the media.

The last time I went to the Arsenal Stadium was around 76 and the away end was all open.

And for the pedantic amongst us its The Boleyn Ground - not Upton Park.
