Anyone checked out Plan B's album yet...can easily see why he's been named as the UK eminem, seeing definate similarities even though he has a pretty unique sound, has a great rhyming style and doesn't pull any punches, we need more artists like him to put Uk hip hop more firmly on the map!

Never heard of him (I aint too keen about UK hiphop like before)...got any mp3 of him i can listen too?

Anyone heard the new Ice cube's album - Laugh now cry later. In my opinion Ice is back and unstopable. I absolutely love every track, the production is slick, the lyrics are venemous, political, social and hard-hitting. He also replied all those critic who said "he has gone hollywood".......If you know what's good, i would recommend you bootleg this album (ok that was a joke, go buy the proper cd please)

Will have a listen to this one, take it this is the album with "Why We Thugs" on, thats a great song.

Yeah that's the one.

OK, another album (not sure if is an album or mixtape) to check out is G.A.M.E from The game. Imo i think it is a mixtape but all the tracks are heavy, he dosent sound like he sounds now so am guessing that must be some old tracks he did a while ago.

He sounds like Shyne and Gorrilla Black on some of the track and the production is as you would expect - tight. Also check for an album (proper one) dropping before the year is over - this would be his first album after being dropped by Dre :( due to the rawkus with 50cents apparently.

Yeh, i've seen G.A.M.E around, think it's a mixtape from the look of the tracks.
A recommendation from me is Papoose - The Underground King. Amazing mixtape in my opinion. Listen out for the lyrics in "Salute The Dream", very good indeed.

No doubt will do, i have been hearing some of his songs and he would appear to be able to manipulate words easily - on par or if not better than eminem. I heard he called himself the "saviour of Rap" which i dont agree with.

Gonna go to the download area i use to check out the album.

Yes i have heard him "spit" and he's nothing on eminem, infact there are very few people out there that i would rate as highly as i do eminem, the guy has an immense lyrical ability and comparing him to papoose just makes me laugh, he's not bad by any means but he is nothing on eminem.

Have you ever heard a proper eminem freestyle? The guy is untouchable.

Either you need you ear wax cleaned out or you just refuse to admit. Papoose style is on par and as time goes by will be better than what eminem spits - He is at his peak and can get better than what he as done so far, papoose still getting stronger.
Yes i have heard eminem freestyle - his freestyle ability is sometimes questionable. He rushes the word out via his nose and mandible - Style that has been used time and time again by various artist (Pac, Slick rick etc), he cant keep to beat during battle - go listen to cannibus freestyle and you will see what i mean, while papoose can do all of those and even have a beter "dexterity of words" than eminen.
You know,... aint nothing new about shady style, it has been done before, but because a white boy got hooked with dre why wont you expect people to think he is exceptionally good? The truth is he aint, but just good.

here is why Eminem is better:

  • Papoose is an overated MIXTAPE rapper
  • He makes mixtape tracks
  • His style is the same as every other east coast rapper in the game
  • He calls himself the lyrical one because he uses loads of multies, but doesnt have a clue what he is talking about half the time he just says stuff to make it fit.
  • Eminem originated his style
  • It's not COMPLETELY original it takes things from other rappers in the detroit area, but is nothing like slick ricks
  • Eminem's one of the best punchline rappers in the game being credited by rass kass, vakill, Copywrite, Jakki (everyone that is dope with punches)
  • Eminem's patterns were the best in the game, his switch ups are still unmatched, his flow was dope and original at the time, and he is arguably one of the best song writers of all time, being credited by most decent song writer spanning across all genres of music.
  • Him being white is **** all, Dre didnt know he was white when he heard him and there are millions of white rappers who nobody gives two farts about.

Yet again, you dont seem to get it. Mixtapes is a way of showing your CV - what you are capable of without even been signed to a major record label, it is also done to gather a very strong fan base. Sway (UK) sold over 10000 mixtapes because his style is a fresh of breathe air amongst the UK rapper.
How can you call someone a mixtape rapper and yet you think he is not on par with eminem? Even his style is been comapred with BigL (one of the best ever) which if i remember correctly eminem paid tribute to when he won his first major award (also paid tribute to BIGgie, pac and big pun - he said he all learn from them).

Again there is nothing original about eminem's style - he rhyme from the mandible - so does pac in his early years and Slick rick. Papoose is clearly a walking dictionary and an english teacher al wrapped up in the body of one human, how dare you says he dosent even know what he is talking about? Yet he makes complete sense.

You think you know punchline? Go hear Cannibus, Jin, even papoose and then you will see what i mean.

Look eminem is a white guy doing what normally will be associated with a black dude in america - i.e sticking your middle finger up to the establishment and doing outlandish stuff. Vanilla ice did back then and it worked so why shouldnt it work for eminem? Dre saw this imo and took him on board. Without dre beats, why will he be today? Nowhere! Go and listen to album produced by eminem - Loyal to the game. He clearly dosent have a clue about beats. He messed up the whole album but on that same album go and check out "Po ***** blues" produced by Storch scott and then you will understand where am coming from.
This is my last take on this if you think emshady is better or the best, fine by me but i know whose CD i will buy and which i will bootleg. :p

EDIT
Royce Da 5 9 is bascially a black version of emimem. He just didnt have the luck the white version had. He is regarded as one of the best yet to come out of detriot.

Love Hip Hop.

I can't be the only one that remembers BigL. .

I love hiphop too :)

Big L is one if the baddest manipulator of words and can switch style before you know it.....I have his last ablum- the Big picture. The is a freestlye he did in the studio that was included on that album, man it is like a template for freestyle and towards the end he said he was tired! No imagine what he would spit out if he wasnt

It is a shame he got shot by a coward. In the words of Fat Joe "he died before his time" rest in peace man.

Also, if you want people to take any notice of your opinions, try not brushing theirs off and basically saying they're wrong.

I am not brushing you off, sorry if i come across like that. I guess we gonna have to stick to each others gun but be mature about it. :)

Anyone heard the news that One of the guys from outkast wants (or has) buy his 9 year old son a gun for birthday? Cant seem to find the link but it was on the radio this morning......I will reserve my comment until i see the link.

I really dont think you know anything about hip hop El. I'm not trying to be offensive dude, but you seem to listen to a lot of the same old crap. God knows i've tried to suggest some decent music in this thread, but this thread really isnt about 'hip-hop'.. It's about rap, and mostly gangster rap. And that aint hip-hop..

Opinions are like backsides....everyone has one. :)

You really dont have a clue mate, and your arrogance is blinding your view.

It is amazing how as soon one dont agree with someone's "endorsed list of rappers" one automatically becomes knowledgeless, arrogant, ignorant and "listening to the same old crap".....
I dont need posters "endorsment" to be accepted that i know about hiphop.

Benneh
If i dont know about hiphop like you pointed out, what the heck are we discussing in here then, Pop rap? (it is still a form of hiphop) seriously, the joke is on you. I wouldnt mind if it was someone who dont jump on my back across the forum. The fact that it is you is laughable. All the artist you listed, i have heard some of them - similar to some of penski's list. Anyway back on track. I wont be drawn into another debate that would lead to situation like this. Finally, this thread is about hiphop lets keep it that way.

The Doctor's advocate a mini review.

This album is the latest from The Game after the whole beef with 50 cents and the whole of G- Unit. The album is a million miles better than his last, even though he was dropped by Dr dre (a business decision) he has some of dre beats on the album from earlier work.

The production is as you would expect - Fresh sound and tight beats. Lyrically, the game is still untochable - Raw and speaking his god damm mind. He talks about his beef with 50 and some the drama he went through. One of my favourite track is the one he did with Busta Rhymes, he basically talked directly to Dre - why he didnt listen to him and beefed with 50. (Guys you gotta listen to this track, it is touching. It reaffirms the saying that inside every gangsta is a big heart!)
Also check out the track One Blood.

Im gonna stop here as im still listening again and again to the whole album. So far, am loving it. 8.5/10. Go get it if you love G.Rap.

post their 3 best lyrical songs...i guess that would settle it right?

anyways yeah i love hip hop and im surprised to see so little hip hop threads here but

That is almost an impossible way to sort it out. In one of my debate with someone in here, i told them Tupac's hit 'em up is one the most rage-filled track ever made. Guess what, they person went to check it out via reading the lyrics and come back in here rubbishing it and posting another rapper's lyrics as something better.

The truth is, reading an artist lyrics sometimes dont do justice to what we are trying to get across.

Yeah man, good to see people appreciating good taste ;) before i got here, it was mostly Guitars and punk rock plus plenty talk about robbie williams and Green day... :( :o :p Let's keep this alive and discsuss things that are hiphop related.

Also, my personal choice of Hip-Hop would be Gangster Hip-Hop, by that i mean people such as Ice Cube, DMX, MOP etc. Obviously people can interpret "Gangster Hip-Hop" differently but thats how i define it. On top of that people have been saying Hip-Hop has gone commercial etc. Which i agree with totally, but it's not to say i don't like it. You've got to admit that you like some "commercial Hip-Hop" that has come out lately. Chamillionaire? etc.

You know, i like how you come out straight and say what you listen to and how you throw out a question in the end. The truth is i agreewith you but i dont think some on the forum will. Im sure if thisthread is to go by, all those artist you mentioned are "crap artist" and "all talk about the same thing" Perhaps if you make a list of unknown artist or under ground artist that havent dropped an album in donkey years then you know about hiphop! (perhaps the only reason those artist are "under-ground" is because they are a commercial failure or better still, they are so rubbish that they have a small fan base)..... :)
