Hiphop fans in here?

My taste is similar, I started listening to hip hop in 1986-87, just as old school was going out and golden age was starting, there are many wonderful, beautiful hip hop tracks, I remember when MC Solar from France got some worldwide fame due to the first Jazzmatazz album with Guru, it introduced people to rapping in a foreign language and how pleasing it can be to the ear despite not knowing what was being said. I do prefer tunes to tell a story though, rather than be irrelevant nonsense strung together (unless its funny).

Yeah, Solar has a good style. I know what you're saying about not understanding the lyrics but I think it's just a bit of escapism now and again not knowing all the lyrics and picking up on the odd thing, which was easier for me with the French artists because I understand a little bit. Or just watch the video that have subtitles in them! :p

Not sure if I like that or not. The video is awesome though!

The video is brilliant, and I like the style the English rappers have in that as well. Not so keen on the tune though, never been a big fan of the rock/rap mix.

I'm beginning to think that my Hip Hop taste is quite limited! :o Was just thinking that I haven't been to a gig for ages either (mostly personal reasons), not since Pete Rock and CL Smooth last year.

Love this track, shame Deda-Baby Pah wasn't there but they did do a couple of tracks from the Lost And Found Album.

Beat Junkies

My favourite tune comes from the Beat Junkies Vol2 mixed by DJ Rhettmatic. Great beat in this track and great line-up of MC's (Tony Da Skitso, Visionaries Crew, Blak Forest Crew, Jurassic 5 Crew, Rass Kass, Dilated Peoples).
I had this on LP years ago, found it on Youtube in not so great audio quality:
