Hiphop fans in here?

Loving this video, great song too:

Murs is very good at telling a story in a descriptive yet comical way:

Murs - 67 Cutlass

Loving this!

Just had a quick look through this thread again, its turned very UK based! Not a bad thing I guess, it has certainly changed what I listen to.

as for uk stuff there is some creative stuff but most just sounds like a chav banging on with jeremy kyle style skills.

Disagree strongly. I can understand that people can think it sounds awkward but ive found UK hip hop to be a far superior product for over 20 years now, I much prefer the dialect and references within.

This last year ive not listened to any commercial rap at all, all indie stuff and its been the best music ive listened to in years, mostly all free too, or at most, a couple of quid, and 90% of that has been UK based.

Yeah I didn't mean to imply he was anywhere near the level if NaS or any of the greats, more the fact that he's new to the scene yet not some G-Unit/Lil' Wayne/*insert any other commercial muppet*.

It seems the older lads that make it later in the "game" keep their rapping style more towards the original hip hop flavour than the new commercial ******** that's played all on the radio/music channels.

On a side note, after mentioning NaS I thought I'd link to a classic of his. No one can paint a picture with his words like NaS:

I would have said a similar thing a few months ago, I really had problems with dodgy British accents in music. I was just used to hearing American accents I suppose!
Once I found a few good UK MC's I started to listen to it more and then you start to discover more and more and it has just snowballed from there. I still prefer US stuff to the UK but it doesn't stop the UK stuff being great as well.

The first time I saw Cruger in the background of a Don't Flop battle I said to my girlfriend 'I think he wandered in off the street, he doesn't fit in at all!'. Doesn't mean he isn't bloody good though.

Have you ever got round to checking out the old UK stuff from the early nineties? It sounds as fresh today as it did when it was released.

Theres an old band called Katch 22 - the main guy in that was called Huntkillbury Finn, and he's systematically been putting on you tube, all the old vinyl that you cant get anymore, I sold my old vinyl and all my vintage UK stuff to a japanese collector about ten years ago.

Its worth having a look, he catalogues years etc, heres a few id recommend to get you started though.

That will certainly keep me going at work! I'll give that a listen this afternoon. Cheers buddy!

What is the beat from though, I know its rather old!

Edit: Turns out to be DJ Kool - Let Me Clear My Throat (not the original though!)

Yeah but most commonly known from "hear the drummer get wicked" by chad jackson where it has that beat with Chuck D saying the song title.
