Everyone probably :) 87-95 is considered the golden era of hip hop, as i keep stating, there is every bit as good stuff now, you just have to dig a little deeper into the crates.

agree with both points. any of the UK fans heard Wiley and Dizzee's new albums? dizzee seems to have got a lot of big collabs on his 1, looking forward to giving them a listen tomorrow.

Yeah, its just annoying with all these little chavs going around listening to 50 cent and G unit, there just no way near as good as anything back then.

It's not just chavs who listen to 50, G-Unit etc etc, it really depends on when you were born and what your were brought up listening to.

Marco Polo - Port Authority

Jazzy Jeff - Return Of The Magnificent -

This two albums are a must have for anyone who yearns for the real live raps from the 90's. BCC, Large Pro, J Live, De La, Pharoah Monche, etc.

Id say 1987-1996...just cause of Reasonable Doubt and It Was Written...

hip hop then is a lot better than hip hop now, but if youve been following the recent events Kris (KRS-1) and Rakim and obviously Nas/Jay/Raekwon/to some extent saigon and lupe/some others are desperately trying to bring hip hop back

we're seeing a resurgence in hip hop...

check some of the producers recent comments...obvious names come to mind like DJ Premier and Pete Rock and Dr Dre...theyve also talked about rebirthing hip hop...other inactive producers such as Ski and Marley Marl have become active again...hip hop is embarking on a renaissance period...which i guess every ART form needs:)

has anyone signed up yet?

Yeah they have some crazy tracks on there...stand out ones on jazzy jeff's are all i know ft. cl smooth and garden ft. big daddy kane...the way jazzy remixed some beats like the Floetry beat he used and switched them up with scratched and different tempo's worked out great...shame about the quality of some of the people he chose...i guess thats a lack of great executive producing tho...still great album

jazzy and will smith are pairing up to do another album as well...its gonna bring MAD flava...lets hope they make their classic music again...(summertime etc.)

i forgot the names of the marco polo one but the single he released is great too and the album has a few gems

Yes my NWA CD is always in my car along with Dre's stuff, also Ice Cube, LL Cool J, Warren G & Cypress Hill.... I even got my original Naughty By Nature CD out the other day to give it a twirl Ninteen Naughty Three...............

I listen to The Game, Snoop Luda, Chingy, 50 mainly from the new crop but my must have CD I always have to keep in the car is 'ALL EYEZ ON ME' Tupac classic album that I had 2 go get a 2nd copy of to keep in doors. I have all he's albums and could go on all day about he's tracks.

50 Cent is a boss above all, and he talks G-Unit business in the July issue of Vibe, making it clear that some members of the crew should keep their résumés current. "I'll fire everybody," he said. "I don't give a f---. They're capable of all of their responsibilities, but when they start slacking, they gotta get the f--- outta here." Young Buck gets a good performance review — "He is the clean-up man because he's actually selling" — with one caveat: "Sometimes he says things without being totally conscious of what he's saying, so he's gonna make mistakes." And Tony Yayo, well, he's set for life. "Yayo can't be dropped, period," 50 explained. "He doesn't even need to sell records. As long as I'm breathing, he's gonna be good. And if I'm not breathing, then he's gonna be real good." That's right, 50 confirmed: Yayo's in the will.

 50's gangsta =]

I listen to loads of Hip Hop, I listen to the American stuff but the British stuff I think is the best, the Real McCoy:

I've got two nokia's,
3 mobiles,
One on 3 and the T-Mobile.
The Vodaphone's just for e-mail's now,
I've got the landline in case anything goes down...

I don't like stuff like "I'm need a ho, a bitch give it to me with my grillz" etc. Nah, that don't work for me. What does is stuff like Nate Dogg ft Pharo - Oh No, now that's really good American Hip Hop. Another is Breathe by Fabulous. I reckon stuff like 50 Cent's Candyshop...:( The beat is fab, but the lyrics...:(

I am so into Professor Green and Example at the moment, I cant wait for the beats concert in July.

www.myspace.com/professorgreen and www.myspace.com/leadingbyexample

Check out the Green before i die remix, and examples new video, they are both quality.

I love the verse on the remix of before i die, im not sure who the big guy who raps it is, but he says a quality line "garys got too much glitter leave the kids alone, taking about nonses, i wanna catch Ian Huntly, feed him to a staff named mutley" :p

Anyone love CANiBUS in here?
IM currently listening to Poet Laureate 2 and man this dude is sick. His style and words are equivalent to what jesus said in his own time.

Been a member of this forum for ages…not just in this name in another name also…and I have only just come across this topic.

Anyway I have read and laughed at some of the remarks people have left though everyone has their own say in the world some are true some are just pathetic.

Myself I have been into this music from the very beginning well as early as 1979 …my best years for this music are between 82-89. I can’t listen to any of this new Hip Hop anymore it’s all bling this and bling that…but I won’t call it much because music progresses in every genre.

Talking of radio DJ’s especially the likes of Tim Westwood like most of you have spoke about well you lot seem to only know him from is Radio 1 Days. The lad had a fantastic time @ LBR & Capital before going to radio one. You all seem to forget music progresses and so do the DJ’s who play that music (even if he does sound like a c!!t @ times).

We also had other DJ’s like Chad Jackson, Mike Shaft, Stu Allan, Leaky Fresh, Max ‘n’ Dave, Dave Pearce the list continues.

At the end of the day this music as surpassed it’s sell by date by many years. I remember people saying back in the early 80’s that it wouldn’t last long but 28 years on after 1st listening to it myself it’s still here with us today…no matter how bad it is.

Bring back the old school I say (well most artist are now using old Electro records in their beats).

If anyone wants to listen to some stuff give me a bell... ;)

Just read the whole thread through, and it seems there's a lot of hate directed towards 50 cent, can someone please elaborate to why you dislike him so much?

A nice post mate, i would disagree that its past its sell by date, I like you cannot stand all the rap about bling and what not, but there is the odd nugget that gets through.
