Hitman 2

It's a shame that sales figures for Hitman 2 are so low but it's too expensive for what I'd put in to it. I barely finished the first one and I only played each level the once. It's quite amusing reading @Rezident posts above about doing the maps 3-4 times.

And that's just for starters! This is the way this game and these maps have been designed. If you only played the map once, you would miss out on, like, 95% of the content, the stories, the fun! Why would you do that?

Some of the stories are funny, some of the possible kills are hilarious. Considering the subject matter, it really should not be this much fun (but it is).

Maybe it's not my type of game! I don't like replaying things over and over. It's just another form of grinding to me.

Sure, but how would you know if you're missing out on 95% of the game? Grinding is doing the same thing over and over. There are 18 different assassination challenges in Miami alone here – that’s at least 18 different ways of doing one objective, on one map. It’s like 18 different flavours of ice cream – you might as well try more than one flavour, you might find something you like even more than vanilla.

But there are layers of exposition, it would be impossible to do some of them on your first playthrough, you will need to know the maps and routes etc. for some of them. Some of them are tricky, but very satisfying when you finally get it right.

The fact that they have constructed the maps in this way is really impressive, it must have been a logistical nightmare to get this many characters and stories and npcs and dependencies etc into one map without anything breaking. But it works.

I’m still on Miami btw, nowhere near finishing it yet either, I’ll finish it this weekend, maybe, and then it’s on to Colombia! After watching Narcos, I'm hoping for beautiful jungle scenery.

So I've chilled out a bit and given the game the attention it deserves. Must have been on it for about 12 hours over the weekend and just coming to the end of the Paris level, having completed the Prologue to 94% or something (need 3 escalation contracts to finish that). Have to admit, it has got me rather hooked. Working through all the challenges is actually quite fun even if some of them are a buggy mess (it took several reloads for the Photobomb challenge to work, for example). I probably know that Palais de Waleswka like the back of my hand now. Some of the stuff that happens is pretty cool - like when you drop the lighting rig on the catwalk and the entire crowd runs out screaming. :p There were some funny moments watching 20 people trying to squish through the doorway.

Does anyone know this answer to this question?

When you are playing through going for all the different challenges/missions, when you've achieved one of them and you get the pop up, do you still need to carry on until the very end each time or can you quit out and it will still register?

So, for example, on Sapienza, if I just wanted to kill Silvio to mop up a story, do I still need to go through and kill Francesca and destroy the virus each and every time? Cos this is where it's starting to get a bit laborious to me now.

I bought the silver edition of this a couple of weeks ago. As much as I'm enjoying it, I'm utterly baffled by the various editions. I bought the Hitman 1 missions, Paris and Sapienza upon release in 2016. However, they, nor my previous character level progress, has carried over into Hitman 2. Do I need to reinstall Hitman 1 to get them working from the Hitman 2 launcher?

Not 100% sure but I don't think individual levels grant you access in Hitman 2. You have to have them all before you can download the Legacy pack. You will have to have played Hitman 1 after the launch of 2 so that the downloads become available in Hitman 2.

And nothing about your playthrough in Hitman 1 - unlocks, level, achievements - carries over. You're starting from scratch in Hitman 2.

That's a bit of a shame. I'm thinking now that I should have got the gold edition with all the previous levels included.

They just released patch 2.20 with DX12 support

Which means after 4 months (or thereabouts) I can finally play it on my RTX 2080ti.

Last I checked this was horribly broken on RTX cards, does this fix the constant crashes?

I've stayed away from getting this one as a result. Loads of people who paid for the game were unable to play for more than a few minutes at a time.
