Cheapest flights I could find to Tenerife on Ryanair for our family of 4 next August were £1700-£1800. Pain! They don’t call it concrete for nothing
Not flown from there for a good while.Birmingham airport is pretty naff. It's super crowded in departures and the whole place is poorly laid out. Having to wait for a lift to get to security is crazy. The drop and go car park is terrible too with long queues to get out every time I've used it.

Edinburgh airport is shocking, I don't think it's changed much in twenty years.
Last time we were there we we queueing up on the tarmac to get into the terminal to queue to get through passport control.
We must travel at different times.Edinburgh Airport is great. Queues in security are the quickest I've ever seen. Not used passport control in a while mine. But everything else is fine.

It's the coming back that's been a farce
It's the return that's been a nightmare tbh.I only travel nationally so yeah probably. But Edinburgh Airport security is incredible now, basically never a queue. Glasgow on the other hand...

I'm still steaming at the cost of the toilet in the Lakes when I was there a few months ago.
Oh and I'm tight so there's that too.
London's actually pretty cheap compared to the rest of the country these days, there's so much competition around.Still can get good deals, I booked 2 nights in London for £240 with breakfast at a decent-ish hotel.
But it was not half term, that helps.
CDG is hands down the worst airport in the world. And I include things that are just an runway and a shack in the middle of nowhere in that. However, Paris CDG I would actively and happily take a longer route just to avoid having to go there ever again.
@malachi - Birmingham airport must have been an experience in the 90’s! I find is very good these days, but if it was anything like the old New Street Station and the Pallisades![]()

Holiday costs have crept up in the last 2 years. Short weekend away is easily 1k, 3-4k for a week in Europe seems normal now. Decent all in inclusive for 1 week can easily go for 3k.
That's for 3. Recently looked at flights to Tokyo, easily 4k alone during school holidays. That's for 2?
