Home brewing kits ....

Yea my bottles are 500ml so used 1.5 drops per bottle and the canadian blonde has a really great head, same with my cerveza, i better check the brew forums

Vinator and a bottle tree made it a doddle.

Still tempted to get some plastic bottles. I have access to about 150 glass pint bottles from Ushers brewery from about 30 years ago, and while its brilliant its a pain to keep them all and capping can be a pain.

I'm tempted to stock up on some kits as presents for Christmas. I think I'm going to ask for the Coopers cerveza and cider kits. I'd also like something like a Leffe, anyone know a good kit?

my latest brew, ready and absolutely stunning. 5.3% strong but doesn't taste it. coopers pale ale.

Yeah I have a Aussie pale ale finished and it's pretty good. I have a lager kit finished as well which was a gift and it's pretty rubbish. Not one I would make again but I will drink it.

Waiting on 4 new kits I've ordered, all premium versions:

Heritage Lager
Premium draft
Pils
IPA

Three lagers with lager yeast to be done at 13 degrees and the IPA as normal. 12 weeks of solid brewing :)

Bit late to the party but I'm currently enjoying my first brew :)

Started off with this lot at the end of October

which a few days later was fermenting nicely. Very active.

Due to the size of the keg, I brewed it very short. About 7/8 of the tin with 500g of dextrose to 10l.

Took around 2 weeks for fermentation to finish and after transferring it to the keg, I left it at room temperature for another week before transferring it to my fridge.

It then spent the next 2 weeks at 6ºc and was clearing nicely.

At this stage it was drinkable but a slightly weird taste. Due to me brewing it short, it's around 7% so I put it down to this.

A week later, it now looks like this (ignoring the condensation on the glass, it's very clear).

Tastes much better and while it's strong, it's very refreshing. Being kept in the keg it doesn't have the carbonation of a bottled beer but it's really good :) I've got some grolsch-style swing top bottles on order which will allow me to brew to the capacity of my bucket.

Not sure what kit I'm going to go with next but I'm thinking of brewing a full can to 15l of water with around 3-400g of dry malt instead of sugar.

If my hint dropping worked I should have the Mexican Cerveza and a couple of other kits dropped off by Santa :)

Still pondering mini kegs. It seems that the ones with the CO2 systems will be too high to just sit in my fridge, and I doubt I would drink 9 pints in a couple of days to allow me to use the Easy Kegs :(. Unless its possible to lay the kegs down on their side?

I liked it until I tried the premium coopers stuff, now I think it's dishwater :D

I've just put on a Cooper Premium Draft. Now for the 15 week wait.....

:(

I do have a Euro Lager which was another 15 weeker due to be tested mid january though :)

The coopers premium range of kits such as:

Heritige Lager (two can kit)
Traditional Draft (Two can kit)
Pils
IPA

I really enjoyed the Cerveza and Canadian Blonde as my first couple of kits but the Pils blew them out of the water by a considerable margin. Everyone who tried it said it they would think it was a shop bought german beer if they didn't know. It get's better and better. I tried it early, after 60 days and was so dissapointed. Then I read the premium kits like 12 weeks atleast conditioning. Then it became awesome.

The downside is they like 13 degree fermenting temps but it's the perfect time of year for that. I will get 150 bottles done this winter to last me through to next year :)

need a serious home brewer, or landlord

I have a home brew setup of a pair of 23 lts corny keg, into a Maxi 210 2 line cooler, with the 2 lines bridged to give superchilled lager.

However whenever I pour a pint, I get a large amount of head, and gas. When I stop pouring, I seem to get a back siphon effect in the pipe from the keg to the cooler, which I think is giving me the head as there is then a large amount of air in the line. The beer line is fed from a gas bottle at @ 15 - 20 lb/ft of pressure.

What's wrong ???
